Father Responds to School's Sexist Classroom Activities

When Stephen Callaghan's 12-year-old daughter was subjected to a gender-specific classroom activity, he wrote the principal a letter criticizing the school for being sexist.

It can be challenging for parents to encourage their kids to embrace their individuality when we live in a society where stores dictate one's gender according to the merchandise.

Such casual sexism transpired at the school where Callaghan is a 6-year student. Boys and girls would go on separate field trips that were considered suitable for their respective genders: The boys go to the hardware store, and the girls go to the library and get their hair and makeup done.

Giphy

Such outdated stereotypes forced Callaghan to write a hilarious, but pointed note, to the school.

Dear Principal, I must draw your attention to a serious incident which occurred yesterday at your school where my daughter Ruby is a year 6 student. When Ruby left for school yesterday it was 2017 but when she returned home in the afternoon she was from 1968.

I know this to be the case as Ruby informed me that the “girls” in Year 6 would be attending the school library to get their hair and makeup done on Monday afternoon while the “boys” are going to Bunnings.

He wanted to make sure the school didn't have the tendency to hurl students through a time warp.

Are you able to search the school buildings for a rip in the space-time continuum? Perhaps there is a faulty Flux Capacitor hidden away in the girls toilet block?

I look forward to this being rectified and my daughter and other girls at the school being returned to this millennium where school activities are not divided sharply along gender.

He tweeted the letter.

Most people favored his stance and reacted positively.

But the tweet also sparked some debate. One user said, "Sometimes it is just ok for girls to do girl things." Gallghan responded by emphasizing the inherent issue about 'girl things,' writing, "Never said it wasn't...but you've missed the point. Why "girl things" or "boy things"...Why not just "things anyone can do?"

He got some backup.

One user commented on the makeover session inside the library. Apparently, it's a place to go braid each other's hair.

The thread also scored endorsement for Bunnings.

The Australian father wrote a followup post on Twitter.

Were with you on that, Steve!

Girl's Hilarious Reaction To Getting Divisive Candy For Halloween Caught On Doorbell Cam

In the '80s and '90s, kids were raised with the understanding that they got what they got, and they should say, "Thank you," for what they received. This was true for birthdays, holidays, and trick-or-treating on Halloween, even if they got candy they wanted to throw away the instant they turned the corner.

But kids today are much more communicative about what they like and don't like, and they can be brutal in their bluntness.

MTG Just Admitted The Awkward Truth About The Republican Healthcare Plan On 'The View'

Speaking on The View, Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke about sparring with House Speaker Mike Johnson over healthcare—and revealed that the GOP does not have any replacement for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) despite what Johnson and her fellow congressional conservatives tell the public.

Democrats have continued to reject Republicans’ proposed continuing resolution to keep the government open without considering an extension of the premium tax credit that helps subsidize health insurance for people earning between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level.

People Share The Best Ways To Shut Down A Debate With A Flat Earther Family Member

The Flat Earth conspiracy theory is strictly a modern online movement, rumored to have begun as a prank, that gained momentum among people who mistrust authority through the power of social media.

There is a persistent myth that Europeans in the Middle Ages believed the Earth was flat. But that is a 19th-century fabrication to sell Columbus Day, not historical reality.

Nicki Minaj Pushes Back After She's Called Out For Praising Trump's Threat To Nigeria Over Christian Persecution

In his latest round of flinging things at the wall to see what will stick—to distract his base from the Epstein Files, his obvious cognitive decline, the mockery of the United States by the world, and the Republican government shutdown—MAGA Republican President Donald Trump unleashed selective outrage over a Nigerian internal matter on Truth Social.

On Friday afternoon, Trump posted:
