Plane Announcing Baby's Sex For 'Gender Reveal' Stunt Crashes Into Sea, Killing Two People

Off the coast of Cancun, Mexico a recent celebration to reveal the sex of a soon to be born child employed whirling propeller airplanes to announce the genitals seen on a scan of the fetus.

However it turned suddenly tragic when one of the planes plummeted into the sea, killing two people on board.

The recent crash occurred at the Nichupte Lagoon at around 3:30 in the afternoon on March 31, the U.S. Sun reported.

As video of the incident captured, the expecting couple along with family and friends could be heard excitedly celebrating, "It's a girl" just moments before the afternoon turned deadly.

The deadly incident added to the list of several grave mishaps that have been caused by risky genital reveal celebrations over the past few years.

In 2017, a sawmill in Arizona went up in flames when somebody attempted to rig up a blue powder explosion to announce a baby boy on the waY.

2019 saw a plane crash in Turkey when the crop-duster flew too low as it dropped 350 gallons of blue water onto the ground below. Later that same year, a woman in Iowa was killed when a homemade explosive device went off by accident.

And of course, the 2020 El Dorado Fire in California, which ripped through thousands of acres of forest, ripped through homes, and killed one firefighter, was sparked by a pyrotechnic device used to reveal a fetus' genitals.

In this most recent tragedy, La Prensa Latina Media reported that, although numerous emergency personnel entities arrived quickly, one of the pilots died at the scene and the other died once on dry land as paramedics administered first aid.

Another online video captured those rescue efforts.

The plane was a Cessna 206, and was rented by the family from a company called Xomex, according to the Sun. Mexico's Federal Civil Aviation Agency has begun an investigation into what caused the crash.

When the story made the rounds on various internet news outlets, people had some choice words about the entire genital reveal in modern culture.

Others took the opportunity to debunk the very idea of "gender" for a fetus.

Here's hoping this one is the nail in the coffin on these parties.

But alas, humans didn't seemed to learn after all the other catastrophes.

Robots have received a lot of attention in the media lately, particularly for situations like the delivery robot that circled around a houseless man without a second thought, reminding us of its lack of humanity and empathy.

But a humanoid robot in Warsaw, Poland, made headlines for a much different reason this week, protecting a neighborhood from a pack of wild boars that had wandered into the community.

'Supernanny' Star Jo Frost Warns Of Impact Of Social Media On Kids In Impassioned Plea For UK Ban

At the beginning of 2026, the United Kingdom's House of Lords supported a proposal to prohibit those under 16 from access to social media to include the sites Facebook, X, TikTok, and Instagram. Any such ban would be introduced as an amendment to the government's schools bill.

Childcare author and television personality Jo Frost has now shared her opinion on the proposal. Ironically, on Instagram on Tuesday, Frost made an appeal to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to ban social media for children under 16.
