Monty Python alum Eric Idle usually has us in stitches with his genius schtick, but his brutally honest response to a recent tweet last week is depressingly accurate.

The comedy legend replied to a prompt by @gunsnrosesgirl3 that posed:

"Without Googling, name something USA invented."

The comedian, who typically has us looking "on the bright side of life," bluntly yet genuinely responded:

"Mass school shootings...?"

And people who saw Idle's reply agreed.











There were a couple, however, who responded with "something completely different."
