Former South Bend, Indiana Mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg recently went viral for a pair of appearances on the conservative Fox News network.
Buttigieg expertly pointed out the hypocrisy of the Trump campaign and Trump's fear of debating Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
With anti-choice Judge Amy Coney Barrett currently appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee for the consideration of her Supreme Court nomination, an answer from then-presidential candidate Buttigieg at a Fox News town hall from May of last year is once again going viral for its thoughtful take on the right to choose.
Buttigieg was responding to the Republican talking point that Democrats want people to get abortions in their third trimester.
Watch below.
The most incredible answer on late term abortions. We need to be able to acknowledge that being pro birth is about control. That's it.

After noting that fewer than one percent of abortions occur in the third trimester, Buttigieg said:
"If it's that late in your pregnancy, then it's almost by definition, you've been expecting to carry it to term. We're talking about women who have perhaps chosen a name. Women who have purchased a crib, families that then get the most devastating medical news of their lifetime, something about the health or the life of the mother that forces them to make an impossible, unthinkable choice."
He continued:
"And the bottom line is, as horrible as that choice is, that woman, that family may seek spiritual guidance, they may seek medical guidance, but that decision is not going to be made any better, medically or morally, because the government is dictating how that decision should be made."
People across the internet began sharing and commending Buttigieg's words.
Well done, Pete. https://t.co/BtM4fxfiPJ

Pete, a man, has more empathy for a woman's choice and knowledge about abortion than any woman who'll ever vote for Trump. https://t.co/xMYTu6Wkeq

A great example of how to take a bad, trap-like question and use it to say what needs to be said. Thank you, @PeteButtigieg https://t.co/TQFKADhoZZ

Another absolutely perfect, well thought out answer from Buttigieg. https://t.co/RKfgd0LJML

With Coney Barrett's confirmation all but an inevitability, people fear for the future of landmark cases like Roe v. Wade.
Justice Ginsburg gave us our marching orders: Do not fill this Supreme Court seat until after the next president is installed.
Everything is on the line in this fight—starting with Roe.

Amy Coney Barrett claiming her career path hasn't been aimed at overturning Roe v Wade is like the Terminator pretending he's never heard of John Connor.

Unreal watching the GOP ram Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade while Trump crows about the miracle from God cure against the “China Plague" that came from the fetal tissue a woman donated after having an abortion that they subpoenaed me to Congress for.

Buttigieg called Coney Barrett's Monday opening statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee "judicial activism cloaked in judicial humility."
