Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had a disturbing reaction to being asked by CNN host Jake Tapper about a video of an ICE agent calling Renee Nicole Good a "f**king b*tch" after fatally shooting her in the face.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was criticized for her disturbing reaction to a question from CNN host Jake Tapper about a video of an ICE agent calling Renee Nicole Good a "f**king b*tch" after fatally shooting her in the face.

The ICE agent who shot Good has been identified as Jonathan E. Ross, according to court records that closely align with the circumstances of a June 2025 incident in Bloomington, Minnesota, referenced by Noem and Vice President JD Vance.

Ross, a Minneapolis resident, is a 10-year veteran of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations special response team. Federal authorities have declined to publicly name the agent involved, but The Minneapolis Star Tribune first reported Ross’s identity on Thursday.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin claimed Good “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them.” But Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey pushed back against this narrative considering witnesses described seeing Good in the vehicle trying to flee officers when she was shot.

Good's killing has sparked massive protests in Minneapolis in light of Noem's claim that ICE agents were attempting to remove an ICE vehicle that had gotten stuck in the snow, alleging that "a mob of agitators that were harassing them all day began blocking them in."

When asked about her decision to call Good a "domestic terrorist," Noem defended her initial reaction to the shooting:

"[Good] blocked the road for a long time, and was yelling at them and impeding a federal law enforcement investigation. That's what you need to focus on, Jake, as they were breaking the law by impeding and obstructing a law enforcement operation."
"They were breaking the law already, and these officers were doing their due diligence with what their training had prepared them to do to make sure they were handling it appropriately."

When Tapper pressed her on how she could definitively determine that Good was attempting to harm the officer with her vehicle, rather than simply trying to flee, Noem dismissed any suggestion that the incident was ambiguous or warranted further investigation.

At one point, she said:

"You don't get to change the facts just because you don't like them...the Trump administration and President Trump is the most transparent and open government that we've ever had."

But then she stunned viewers when Tapper played one of the videos of the scene where an unidentified ICE agent refers to Good as a "f**king b*tch" after shooting her.

When Tapper asked Noem to confirm whether that was Ross's voice on the tape, Noem replied:

"I can't determine which one it is, but it could be, sir."

Noem's reaction was swiftly condemned.

In the wake of widespread demonstrations following Good's killing, Democratic lawmakers have pledged to use every legislative tool available to pressure the administration to reform enforcement practices.

Several Democrats have even joined calls to impeach Noem over her handling of the incident and the lack of transparency from her department, though impeachment is unlikely given Republican control of Congress.

Other Democrats are advocating for restrictions on funding for DHS and ICE, arguing that budget increases enacted in last year’s tax and spending bill have enabled the aggressive immigration crackdown.
