Just when it seemed Hunter Biden’s latest media tour couldn’t produce a more unexpected soundbite, he went ahead and put a percentage on his sexuality.
While speaking with liberal LGBTQ+ political commentator Luke Beasley, the former first son proudly dubbed himself “48.5% gay.”
Things got even stranger when Beasley asked whether he’d be Biden’s type if he were gay—and Biden didn’t dodge the question:
“No, I just—a little bit more masculine would be my type if I was gay.”
Later, Biden circled an entirely separate line of questioning right back to what he dubbed “the gay question.”
He then revised his remarkably precise percentage downward:
“Maybe I take back 48.5. More like 47 after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point.”
Biden’s relationship history has apparently moved at varying percentages. His marriage to Kathleen Buhle lasted from 1993 to 2017, while he and Melissa Cohen tied the knot in May 2019—just six days after meeting. The couple shares a young son, Beau, named after Biden’s late brother.
But Biden wasn’t quite finished with his running percentage tally:
“I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay.”
The interview clip has since gone viral, showing a “gaydar” gauge tracking Biden’s fluctuating percentage in real time.
See how the numbers—and the needle—moved below:
You hear that? That’s the sound of Fox News producers collectively clearing their schedules. But beneath the “48.5%” jokes is a considerably sharper political accusation.
During a July 2026 appearance on Jennifer Welch’s I’ve Had It podcast, Biden railed against what he dubbed Washington’s “closetocracy”—an alleged “closeted gay mafia, largely Republican” made up of politicians he claims conceal their sexuality while publicly supporting anti-LGBTQ+ policies.

And Biden wasn’t coy about naming names, singling out the late South Carolina Republican U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham as part of his accusation.
As for Biden’s ever-fluctuating percentage, social media wasted no time weighing in:

Biden may be joking about his sexuality percentage, but his ongoing headline tour has become remarkably predictable: Say something provocative, watch it ricochet across social media and move on to the next revelation. For someone who spent years attracting unwanted attention, the former first son now seems unusually comfortable generating it himself.
During a recent interview with Mehdi Hasan, Biden also offered a cryptic assessment of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ loyalty to his father.
Biden offered a rather loaded response:
“I think that she was loyal to my father, and I don’t think that she was loyal to a fault, however.”
When Hasan pressed him on what exactly he meant, Biden declined to elaborate, telling him, “That’s between me and her.” Harris has yet to publicly respond to Biden’s remarks.
Such restraint has been something of a rarity on Biden’s latest media tour. He’s sat down with an eclectic roster of figures, including former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and independent podcaster Candace Owens, and even debated white nationalist streamer Nick Fuentes.
His roughly 80-minute interview with Beasley covered everything from his efforts to reclaim the media platforms that were once used against him to his past struggles and his relationship with his daughters.

At this point, guessing what Biden might reveal next feels about as precise as his ever-changing percentage.
