Woman Hilariously Stunned After Realizing Her Newly-Adopted Dog Only Understands Spanish

What would you do if you adopted a dog, who is supposed to be trained, but then won't obey a single one of your commands?

Probably assume the pupper had behavioral issues, right?

Well, be careful before you assume.

As TikToker @kaleemcgee found out when she adopted her four-year-old chihuahua, sometimes the difficulty is just a language barrier.

@kaleemcgee If you judge my laugh that's rude. if you judge my Spanish that's fair. ##BetterTogetherChallenge ##VansCheckerboardDay ##fyp ##fypシ ##fy ##dog ##spanish

Despite the doggo not following commands, McGee suspected something else was going on.

“He sits when you have a treat in your hand not when you say sit."
"He knows what a crate is and he walks really well on a leash so it seems he has some training, but he won’t listen to us.”

On the off-chance it might be something they hadn't considered, McGee tried a little Spanish.

And it worked like a charm.

She then showed Max the chihuahua following commands perfectly in Spanish, including "vamos" for "come here," "sientete" for "sit down" and "buen chico" for "good boy" to which the pup's tail wags uncontrollably.

The video has gone completely viral, racking up over 4 million views and 1 million likes.

McGee asked for advice from followers as well.

"We've been relying on Google translate, so if you have anything else, let me know because I would love to see how smart this cute little man is—I just don't speak his language."

So before you jump to conclusions about your pets' "behavioural issues," perhaps the best course of action is just to try a command in another language instead.

Who knows!

You may end up with a bilingual household thanks to your pet.
