"What do you get for the person who has everything?" Something they didn't know they wanted. On the other side of that is, "What do you get the couple you just know isn't going to make it?" Last thing you want to do is get them something they can only use together which, once they inevitably split up, is useless. So, what do you buy?

Reddit user, u/Sedfvgt, wanted to know the best options when they asked:

What is a good wedding gift for a couple that won't last?

Leave Something For Them In Their (Future) Time Of Need

Something consumable, like fancy food and/or wine. If it isn't gone by the time they split, it will become a comforting thing to consume.

Leave Them With A Reminder

A nice salt and pepper shakers, either something that is sentimental (e.g. they honeymooned in Hawaii and the S&P set is made by a local artist), or just from the fancy set of dishes they put in the register. A strongly mediocre gift that won't set you back much, but shows you put in some effort.

Plus when they divorce, they can split the set up as a morbid reminder of love lost

A Gift With Multiple Uses

A friend of ours gave us a huge mason jar with a healthy cash gift inside--all in change. There was a note that explained we were to keep the jar and every day empty our loose change out of our pockets into the jar. Then, every year on our anniversary, we were to go blow it on something we wouldn't normally get for ourselves (like a fancy dinner).

Now, being the practical sort, we actually wait for the five-years and use it to put toward something we need or want for the house (like when we upgraded to a riding mower), but your couple can use it to pay for the attorney when the time comes.

Maybe There's Something To This Towel Thing

Towels, you can't go wrong with towels. Everyone uses towels.

Tbh it's a neutral gift and should be given with the best of intentions. Even marriages where we thought it would last, did not. So, give it with a good heart.

Put Their Name On It

His and Hers matching towels. No arguments regarding ownership once the divorce rolls around.

Don't Buy It For Both Of Them, Just One

Just buy something for whichever of the two people you actually like.

Odds are if they are a bad match you don't like them both.

You Won't Need Them Now, But Soon....

We bought my brother in law (total jerk) and his cheating lying manipulative choice of wife a cheap set of shot glasses (looked nice but cheap) figured he'd need them to drown his sorrows at some point...

Feed Them In The Short Run

Tupperware with pre-made meals in them. Tupperware isn't too expensive, and neither is preparing meals that can stay in the freezer, like homemade spaghetti sauce or something. But it's nice for a couple who just got married to not have to cook for a week while they are moving in. And it's not like it's something they'll fight over when they get divorced.

Sinister, But Genius

Luggage. Say it's for their honeymoon. But it'll be far more useful when they split, and one of them has to move out.

Nailed It

Birth control.

Seriously.

Trump Claims The White House Was 'A Sh*t House' When He Moved Back In—And Everyone Had The Same Response

MAGA Republican President Donald Trump has made significant, controversial changes to the White House since he took up residence for his second term on January 20, 2025.

The renovations in just over one year include installing pavers to replace the grass in the Rose Garden, adding gold decor throughout the building and especially in the Oval Office, renovating the Lincoln bathroom to add marble and more gold fixtures, adding gold signs for White House features like it's one of Trump's resorts, hanging a plethora of massive portraits of himself in gaudy gold frames, and demolishing the entire East Wing of the building to erect a self-described monument to himself, an unpopular golden ballroom that will dwarf the rest of the building.

MAGA Melts Down Hard After Learning They May Never Get Their 'Trump Mobile' Phones—Or Their Deposits Back

MAGA fans who signed up to get Trump Mobile T1 phones nearly a year ago are furious after learning there's no guarantee they'll ever get the phones they put down deposits for—and that these same deposits are now being described as merely a "conditional opportunity."

The Trump Mobile T1 phone was unveiled in June 2025 on the 10th anniversary of Trump’s original presidential campaign launch, marking the Trump brand’s debut in the mobile device and wireless service market. At the time, the company said the phone would be available in August.

People Are Applauding AOC's Refreshing Take On Her Political 'Ambition' After She Was Called Out As A 'Likely 2028 Presidential Candidate'

When asked about her future political ambitions during an appearance at the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago, New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was notably candid, saying her "ambition is to change this country," as she ripped a Washington Post editorial that tried to knock her down a peg for her take on the morality of billionaires.

The progressive is not currently considered the frontrunner in early 2028 Democratic primary polling but some surveys suggest she has already emerged as a serious contender in what is expected to be a crowded field.

Rod Stewart Just Gave Trump The Most Brutally Accurate New Nickname During Candid Conversation With King Charles

On Monday, King Charles III attended an event at Royal Albert Hall to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the King's Trust—previously called the Prince's Trust—which the United Kingdom's reigning monarch founded in 1976 to support young people aged 11-30 facing challenges like unemployment, poverty, or lack of education.

In attendance that night was Sir Rod Stewart, who was knighted in 2016. Stewart and the King have met several times, and briefly chatted while King Charles greeted distinguished guests in the reception line.
