Diamond and Silk Just Used a Donald Trump Talking Point to Refute the Accusation That They Lied to Congress

Diamond and Silk Just Used a Donald Trump Talking Point to Refute the Accusation That They Lied to Congress

Conservative social media personalities "Diamond and Silk" were brought in front of the House Judiciary Committee this morning to address their claim that Facebook is suppressing conservative voices.

In what has turned into a rather heated exchange, New York Democratic Representative Hakeem Jeffries confronted the two sisters, Lynnette "Diamond" Hardaway and Rochelle "Silk" Richardson, with an FEC report that said they had been paid $1,274.94 for "field consulting" despite their repeated claim during the hearing that they had not been paid by the Trump campaign.

Diamond and Silk's response was right out of the Donald Trump playbook:

"We're familiar with that particular lie, we can see that you do look at fake news."

The ladies went on to explain that the FEC filing was inaccurate and they were merely reimbursed for plane tickets by the Trump campaign, not "paid" per se. Which prompted Jeffries to ask them if they're calling the FEC report "fake news."

Diamond and Silk conceded that there may have been a mistake on the part of the campaign when they filled out the FEC report form.
