President Donald Trump left the internet cringing after showing off his new "Trump Was Right About Everything" hats during an Oval Office press conference on Tuesday—another example of how he's used his office to sell merchandise and enrich himself.

While taking questions about his newly announced $5 million pathway to U.S. citizenship, Trump was handed a stack of red caps bearing the slogan, “Trump Was Right About Everything.” As the scene unfolded, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., known for promoting anti-vaccine conspiracy theories, appeared visibly uncomfortable standing behind Trump.

In contrast, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick laughed and enthusiastically praised the president. At one point, Lutnick even told the crowd:

"Always say yes to the president.”

Considering Trump has used his status to promote cologne, Bibles, and even his own mugshot, people know a grift when they see one.

In the face of an extensive array of federal and state charges that are being dropped now that he won the election, Trump finds himself grappling with a towering mountain of legal bills.

To fund his legal defense, Trump has consistently turned to financial contributions from his supporters. Over the course of the past two years, he has tapped into the financial resources of a political action committee under his control, the Save America PAC.

Originally established in 2020 as a rallying point for his baseless allegations of election fraud, this leadership PAC has remained predominantly fueled by donations from grassroots supporters. Even before his entrance into the 2024 presidential race, the Save America PAC was channeling funds to cover Trump's legal fees.

While legal experts contend that this fundraising practice likely adheres to legal norms, it inevitably raises ethical concerns about the manner in which Trump interacts with his donors.
