Maren Morris Dares Tennessee To 'F**king Arrest Me' After Introducing Her Son To Drag Queens

The country star was on hand for the 'Love Rising' benefit concert in Nashville supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

Country music artist Maren Morris has never shied away from expressing her liberal views and standing up for the LGBTQ+ community.

In her latest act of defiance, she introduced her son to drag queens backstage at the 'Love Rising' benefit concert in Nashville, Tennessee, where she performed alongside drag queen Alexia Noelle Paris.

Morris proudly shared the moment on stage, saying:

"Yes, I introduced my son to some drag queens today, so Tennessee, f**king arrest me."

Morris's bold move comes in response to Tennessee's controversial new law, signed by Republican Governor Bill Lee earlier this month, which explicitly targets drag shows and criminalizes "adult cabaret performances" that could be seen by children.

Tennessee is the first state to enact such a law this year, and it's received widespread backlash from the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

You can hear what Morris said in the video below.

Morris said:

"I brought my son here earlier today for soundcheck ... and we got to go in the room where all the queens were getting ready and doing their makeup."
"And he freaked out when he went in there because it's just magic what drag queens do. There's wigs everywhere, and the smell of hairspray and wig glue; there's glitter; everyone's in a good mood."
"It's just like a room of love. And we went back to my dressing room and my son is like, 'I need the queens!'"
"Yes, I introduced my son to some drag queens today, so Tennessee, f**king arrest me."

Morris later shared photos and the clip of her declaration on Instagram and thanked "Nashville, the gorgeous Queens and the LGBTQ+ community for showing up last night."

Alexia Noelle Paris later published her own post in which she said she is "over the moon with the joy and kindness of everyone involved" and praised Morris as "a gem."

Many have praised the singer for speaking out, and thanked her for her allyship.

Morris has long been an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

Last year, Maren Morris got into a Twitter feud with Brittany Kerr Aldean, the wife of country music star Jason Aldean, after Aldean made transphobic comments on Instagram.

Morris called Aldean a "scumbag human" and "Insurrection Barbie," to which Aldean responded by saying Morris was "judgmental" and "setting women back hundreds of years."

Fox News host Tucker Carlson later mocked Morris on his show, calling her a "lunatic" and a "fake country music singer" for her support of transgender rights.

Morris responded by selling t-shirts with the phrase "Maren Morris: Lunatic Country Music Person" on them, with proceeds going to the Trans Lifeline and the GLAAD Transgender Media Program.

Carlson's attack on Morris was widely criticized, with many pointing out that his comments were not only transphobic but also sexist.

Thank you, Maren, for always standing up for what's right!
