Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is facing heavy criticism after footage of remarks he made about Euphoria actor Sydney Sweeney's body during his Fox News program resurfaced.

The remarks were made in an episode of From the Kitchen Table: The Duffys released in March 2024. The episode, hosted by Duffy and his wife, Fox News personality Rachel Campos-Duffy, centered on Sweeney and carried the title “Can Sydney Sweeney Save America From Going Woke?”

In the now-viral clip, Duffy, commenting on the buxom Sweeney, says:

“I’m gonna come back and give you my take on Sydney Sweeney’s breasts right after this break."

And indeed he does "after the break," adding:

“Men appreciate women, and men that appreciate women are not toxic. God made us a certain way to appreciate and want to mate with a woman, and women are made the same way to want to be with a man and, um, I think Sydney Sweeney is just a reminder that men are still men. I’m sorry, we are.”

You can hear what he said in the video below.

Critics have been disgusted by his remarks and have called out Duffy's lack of professionalism.

Sweeney attracted considerable attention from the right wing after her American Eagle ad campaign titled “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.” The campaign plays on the words “jeans” and “genes,” which some critics claim alludes to eugenics, a theory widely discredited as scientifically inaccurate and ethically dangerous.

Additionally, ABC News, citing public voting records, found that a “Sydney B. Sweeney” in Summerland Key—who shares the actress’s birthday—is registered as a Republican in the state. Sweeney has not publicly addressed this but nonetheless received support from President Donald Trump, who told reporters "you'd be surprised how many people are Republicans."

The New York Times reported that right-wing media amplified the supposed left-wing "panic" surrounding Sweeney, noting that "nearly three-quarters of posts that were critical of Ms. Sweeney or the ad had fewer than 500 views."
