Most films will hit us when we're in our childhood, exposing us to the horrors and harsh realities of the world. "Want to know what it's like to be an adult in an adult world, small child?"

His life turns into hell."

It can feel like some filmmakers are out to brutalize their audiences, almost punishing them for watching the story they and their crew have crafted for you. Why watch these films?

War Is A Real Thing

Feeling sad after a film isn't a bad thing. It means that something connected, that you felt something, and that's good. Emotional resonance is what we want in our entertainment, to feel like what we're devouring has meaning.
And nothing means more than a few shed tears for people who never existed.
