While chatting with her sister Brandi Cyrus for an episode of Spotify's Billions Club, the singer revealed that her 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance in which she stood on top of an ice cream truck with a "stripper pole" was actually her mom Tish Cyrus's idea.

Singer Miley Cyrus was telling all in a recent episode of Spotify's Billions Club, discussing her notorious performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards.

In the performance, she became the talk of the pearl-clutching town when she danced with a pole—implied heavily to be one for exotic dancers, coming out of an ice cream cart–while singing her hit song Party In The USA.

Fast-forward to now, when Cyrus was discussing her past with her sister Brandi Cyrus on the episode.

"Yup, that was my mom's idea. So, she always lets me take the blame. When I got in trouble the next day, you know who was nowhere to be found? Tish Cyrus."

People were quick to remind everyone that Miley Cyrus was actually 16 at the time of the performance where her mom thought her pretending to be a stripper was a good idea.

Folks remembered how much of a deal was made of the whole thing.

Unsurprisingly, this revelation did not make people fans of Tish Cyrus.

Speaking of Tish, though, some folks were more focused on how much Miley is growing up to look like her.

Others were just there to hear Cyrus' distinctive voice.

There were those who found Cyrus' mom's habit of letting her daughter take the blame for her ideas relatable.

And finally, there were many people who appreciated how Cyrus herself framed her memories of the event—not as the whole pole controversy, but as the first time she got to wear real diamonds on stage.

Cyrus is currently working on a visual album, set to drop in 2025, called Something Beautiful.

'Will & Grace' Actor Brutally Drags Trump's Venezuela Takeover With Mock Regime Change In His Own Neighborhood

As the world now knows, on the morning of Saturday, January, 3, 2026, under the direction of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump and his Secretary of "War" Pete Hegseth, the United States military invaded the sovereign nation of Venezuela using 150 aircraft to abduct Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.

The nation, along with international allies and adversaries, have been weighing in on the action and the Trump administration's attempts to justify it. Trump, Hegseth, and their mouthpieces claim the uninvited intervention in another sovereign nation's internal affairs was about justice and drug trafficking while the international community and Trump's opposition in the U.S. say it was about oil.
