The wife of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump's United States Homeland Security Advisor and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, Stephen Miller, is drawing backlash from the international community as well as the folks at home over a meme she posted on X on Saturday.

Podcaster Katie Miller, who left government service to work for Elon Musk, posted a graphic on her personal X account, an image with the caption "SOON." The image depicts a map of Greenland with the United States flag overlaid on it.

Her post quickly received a community note for context, stating:

"Greenland is a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, with its status recognized under international law. Any claim by the United States or another country has no historical or legal basis."

Miller's post came just hours after the White House invaded the sovereign nation of Venezuela to abduct their president—an act of war without congressional authorization. Trump also renewed his own threats about Greenland on Air Force One while returning to Washington D.C. after another trip to Mar-a-Lago.

The Danish ambassador to the United States, Jesper Moeller Soerensen, issued a response on X:

"Just a friendly reminder about the US and the Kingdom of Denmark: We are close allies and should continue to work together as such. US security is also Greenland’s and Denmark’s security. Greenland is already part of NATO."
"The Kingdom of Denmark and the United States work together to ensure security in the Arctic. The Kingdom of Denmark has significantly boosted its Arctic security efforts - in 2025 alone, we committed USD 13,7 bn that can be used in the Arctic and North Atlantic. Because we take our joint security seriously."
"And yes, we expect full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark."

Ambassador Soerensen's response ties in to some of the responses that Miller received directly, including one asking Grok about military bases abandoned in Greenland by the United States.

The Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, also issued a response in an interview with Denmark’s TV2.

She said:

"I have to say this very clearly to the United States: it is absolutely absurd to say that the United States should take control of Greenland."
"But I will also make it clear that if the U.S. chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything stops, including NATO and thus the security that has been established since the end of the Second World War."

The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen, said Monday morning:

"That's enough now. No more pressure. No more insinuations. No more fantasies of annexation. We are open to dialogue. We are open to discussions. But this must happen through the proper channels and with respect for international law."

People offered their own thoughts and memes for Miller to share.

On Reddit, the "Ask Conservatives" subReddit discussed if Miller's post was "normal."

On Sunday, Trump remarked:

"We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security, and Denmark is not going to be able to do it. We'll worry about Greenland in about two months... let's talk about Greenland in 20 days."

Greenlanders have been clear that the Trump administration isn't welcome in their homeland.
