Mike Johnson Roasted After Accidentally Making A Case For Democrats With Warning To Voters

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson attempted to sound the alarm on Fox News over what a Democrat-controlled Congress might look like—and it was an immediate self-own.

During a Tuesday interview on Fox News, MAGA Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson once again openly expressed his fear about what might happen to the world as he knows it if Democrats win the majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate during the November midterms.

Johnson explained that if Democrats take control of the House and Senate in January, they would likely launch numerous investigations into the administration of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump instead of turning a blind eye on constitutional and ethical and financial violations by the White House and Trump's cronies.

Speaking to host Dana Perino, Johnson warned:

"If this group took over―heaven forbid, Dana!―they would turn every committee of Congress into an investigative body. They would spend every day investigating the president, the first family, the Cabinet, donors to the party, leaders in business and industry."

You can watch Johnson's warning here:

The idea of a legislative branch providing checks and balances instead of just rubber stamping the executive branch wasn't the deterrent Johnson hoped for. A recent survey by the Navigator Research Project found 60% of voters believe Trump brought more corruption to Washington D.C., and government corruption ranks as a top-five issue for voters regardless of political affiliation.

So why would holding powerful people in government accountable for their actions be a negative for anyone who isn't part of the corruption? Perhaps the Louisiana Republican didn't think his appeal to voters through.

As MeidasTouch put it:

"Mike Johnson continues to campaign for the Democratic Party"

People had a reality check for Johnson online.

Just last week in another Fox News interview, Johnson—a self-described Christian nationalist—declared:

"Heaven forbid, if we lose this majority or whatever, I don’t know what my next chapter of life is. If God moves on our hearts and says we should, you know, go back to my hometown of Shreveport and start a lawn business, I’ll do that with equal fervor."
"I mean, I just want to be of my highest and best use... to God and to my country."

Does this mean the Louisiana Republican legislator will resign from Congress if his party loses the majority? Johnson, like all members of the House of Representatives, is up for reelection in November, but he's expected to win in his heavily gerrymandered state.

If the GOP loses its majority in the House, Johnson will no longer be Speaker. Maybe it's time he started shopping for lawnmowers.

Kansas City football player and Mr. Taylor Swift Travis Kelce is drawing backlash for liking a social media post of controversial comedian Shane Gillis' Saturday Night Live monologue in which he said women who wear workout clothes at the gym dress like "whores" and that everyone is either "Hitler or gay."

While people like Schitt's Creek creator and actor Dan Levy called out the misogyny in Gillis' monologue, apparently Kelce finds it acceptable in a time when people are asking what made 57 Ivy League men at Cornell decide rape is a group bonding experience and incapacitated women are party favors.
