You know how it goes.

One minute, everything's peachy.

The next... well, things go down.

And that doesn't necessarily mean they end there!

Special thanks to Redditor K2K175, who asked the online community:

"What is the longest 5 minutes you have ever experienced?"

"I used to be a firefighter."

I used to be a firefighter.

"My kid is still in there"

He wasn't. He was hiding in the bushes next door, a bit frightened, but completely fine. I think that took a few years off my life.

rman342

That's scary! But at least your story has a happy ending!

"The time between..."

The time between a guy who was acting weird and kept approaching me while I was mowing my lawn who then hid and was watching me from my neighbors lawn to when the cops arrested him. I went inside to call them via my back door (front was locked) and he FOLLOWED ME and started knocking and scratching against it.

Giphy

I went from hiding on the ground against my back door so he couldn't see me to locked in my upstairs bathroom with a bat by the end of it all. 5 minutes seems like forever when you're terrified.

skinnyribs

Ain't that the truth! Glad you got through it.

"They couldn't find..."

Wife had a seizure during labor. They couldn't find the baby's heartbeat afterward and rushed to an emergency c section. Everything stabilized but it was scary seemed to go on forever. 4 years later everyone is happy and healthy.

TheManRW86

That's fantastic. Glad this scary experience didn't end horribly. What a blessing.

"I was on placement..."

I was on placement with a doctor and he told a patient that he might lose his leg due to diabetes. It obviously upset him, but the doctor left to go get something leaving me in the room with him. He must have been gone for only 2 minutes but I swear it felt like 20. The guy was quietly sobbing to himself and I had no idea what to do or say.

This is why I applaud medical professionals. It is a hard job and even harder when you have to give news like this.

"The last 5 minutes..."

The last 5 minutes of an ultrasound on your abdomen, when forced to do so with a full bladder. Especially when I got my appointment wrong and showed up an HOUR EARLY!! I have, in all my 30+ years, never had to pee SO BADLY lol.

ParanoiaHime

But you got through it! And I hope you ran to the bathroom like a madwoman after that.

"In fifth grade..."

In fifth grade while the principal was listing off the profanities I searched on Google Earth.

eggplnatt

Oh dear. You were a little rascal, weren't you?

"Waiting..."

Waiting at the DMV line that lead to the true DMV line.

Itcilis

The DMV is probably my least favorite place on Earth. Isn't it everyone's?

"Waiting for that..."

Waiting for that pregnancy test result; regardless of how you want the result to sway.

MakeitSilver

Nerve-wracking. As a dude, I can only imagine.

"I recently..."

I recently had a very frightening sleep paralysis, it probably just lasted for a few minutes but it felt like ages.

earlson

Sleep paralysis is no joke – the stories I have heard are the stuff of nightmares.

"On the way..."

On the way to a toilet trying to hold back destructive diarrhea in a public place.

brownleatherchair8

Oh dear.

This is the worst. The absolute worst.

MAGA Senator Slammed After Scolding Americans For Whining About High Gas Prices Amid Iran War—And Wow

Kansas Republican Senator Roger Marshall chastised Americans for complaining about high gas prices and insisted they should consider that their "national security is even more important" than whatever blows are being dealt to their wallets at the gas pump.

Consumer prices are up 3.3% compared to a year ago, largely fueled by a surge in energy costs. The energy index jumped 10.9% in a single month as oil and gas prices climbed sharply. Amid the Iran war and the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, oil has risen back to around $100 a barrel, pushing gasoline prices up by a record 25%.

Kid Goes Viral After Leaving Sweet Note On Plane For The Person Sitting In Their Seat On The Next Flight

A lot is going on in our world right now that gives us pause, and some of us might feel our hearts breaking under the weight of all of it. That makes acts of kindness, no matter how small they are, more important than ever before.

X user @oatmilkanie shouted out an unidentified child who clearly got the memo when they boarded a plane and discovered that the child had written a note for the next person to sit in their seat, directly on the paper nausea bag that's snuggled in the seat pocket in front of the passenger's knees.

Sometimes when you meet someone, everything goes so perfectly that you can't help but imagine that it's meant to be.

Woman Creeped All The Way Out After Finding Hidden Door In The Ceiling Of Her Airbnb

A lot of us already cannot sleep well when we're visiting someone else's home or staying in a hotel, because we're uncomfortable in a different bed and maybe even a little creeped out in the unusual space.

But discovering a whole other room with a creepy door would quickly transform a space from a rental to something out of a horror movie real quick for anybody.
