After fan favorite Krasinski's cameo as Reed Richards, AKA Mister Fantastic, in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,' Marvel fans were shocked to learn that Pedro Pascal is in talks to play the role in the upcoming 'Fantastic Four' reboot.

Pedro Pascal is reportedly in talks to play Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic, in the MCU's (Marvel Cinematic Universe) reboot of Fantastic Four as part of the Multiverse Saga.

But fans who remembered seeing John Krasinski in the iconic Marvel role once before were not pleased with Pascal's casting rumor, which has not been officially confirmed.

In 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Krasinski appeared in a cameo as the alternate reality version of Mister Fantastic, who was part of the Illuminati in a trial scene with Doctor Strange.

Because the internet had been flooded with fan art depicting Krasinski as Mister Fantastic, it was jarring for fans to discover the role was allegedly going to Pascal instead.

Pascal is a three-time Emmy nominee who has never been cast in a MCU film before. But his impressive resume includes roles in Disney+'s The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and for portraying Joel Miller in HBO's The Last of Us.

With deference to Pascal's cred, Krasinski fans pitched a fit online, despite his suggesting he wasn't interested in committing to portraying the leader of the superhero quartet.

Fans also presented their own casting ideas.

Not everyone was disappointed.

Insiders told Deadline that a casting deal for the Fantastic Four reboot, which will ditch the origin story and introduce the team as prominent figures in the multiverse, is far from being finalized.

With director Matt Shakman actively in pre-production at Pinewood Studios in England, the hope is for the film to go into production early next year.
