The actor told 'GQ' how his 'Top Gun: Maverick' costar once pranked him by pretending to lose control of the helicopter he was flying them in over London—and fans found an old photo on Powell's Instagram that they believe shows the moment.

Glen Powell recently revealed that Tom Cruise pulled a terrifying prank on him by pretending to lose control of a helicopter, and fans believe they found the photo evidence on social media.

In an interview with British GQpublished last week, Powell opened up about his Top Gun: Maverick costar's shenanigans that had him fearing for his life.

He first shared that Cruise offered to fly him to London for reshoots at Pinewood Studios.

But things soon went awry...or so Powell believed.

"Tom goes ‘oh no, oh no,’ and he starts dropping the helicopter over London."
"I was like, ‘Am I about to be the unnamed guy that dies with Tom in a smoking hole in the middle of London?’"

After learning of the cruel prank, dedicated fans did some detective work and found what they believe to be documentation of the moment.

Powell shared a post on Instagram in March of 2023 in which he featured several photos from set and on the red carpet.

He captioned it:

"Over and Out"

The third photo in the carousel shows Cruise flying a helicopter while Powell appears to be yelling and holding on for dear life.

Bingo.

While people on social media agreed Cruise pulled an epic prank...

... many claimed they would have reacted a bit differently.

While Powell actually obtained his pilot's license in November 2021, he's not quite as comfortable as Cruise in the air.

And he's a little disappointed about it.

"I thought I could be Tom Cruise."
"He has a helicopter and he’s flying actual jets. If I have to pop over to New York or Texas, in this SR-22 [a relatively modest five-seater, one-engine aircraft], it’ll take me forever."

At least we doubt he'll be pulling any of the same pranks!
