The actor opened up on BBC Radio 1 about one of his most infamous lines from the show, remarking that he 'just can’t abide by' fans' requests for it.

Are you ever haunted by one thing you said that people won't let you forget? This unfortunately happens to actor Steve Carell all the time, as he said in a recent interview during a BBC Radio 1 segment called Unpopular Opinions.

People love one line from his time on the U.S. version of The Office, and he does not.

The line, which was so iconic that many don't even know the source, was the reply "That's what she said!"

Carell thought the joke was funny—once.

“It was fun in the moment, and certainly that character thought it was funny, which was the joke, because it was even a bad joke back then. And the character did not have a good sense of humor. I think people forget that, that it was coming from a place of mockery.”

People will roll down their car windows to yell it at him in the street, and ask him to sign autographs of the line.

“Whenever I’m asked to sign that, I won’t...I just can’t abide by that sort of thing.”
