MTG Rips GOP With Blunt Theory After Suspicious Migrant Caravan Spotted Heading Toward The U.S.

Responding to a report about a migrant caravan of more than 600 people from Honduras traveling through Mexico toward the U.S. border, former Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene accused Republicans of orchestrating a crisis for political convenience.

The episode echoes a similar political controversy from 2018, when a much larger migrant caravan became a major issue in U.S. politics and was seized upon by the far-right. President Donald Trump, then in his first term, seized on the caravan ahead of that year’s midterm elections, describing the migrants’ arrival as an “invasion.”

Far-right reporter Anthony Aguero shared a video of the latest caravan on the move, remarking:

"Over 400 aliens predominantly from Honduras entered Mexico on Thursday, ready to make their way to the US southern border… Here’s footage of the caravan. Someone is incentivizing this movement, this is not organic."

The White House released a statement responding to this news and capitalizing on it:

“The message to the caravan is you will not be allowed into our country. Our border is closed to lawbreakers. President Trump delivered the most secure border in history and has had 16 months of ZERO releases at the border. The days of catch and release are over."

“Any illegal aliens who pay cartels to smuggle them in the United States should expect the same outcome: arrest, prosecution where appropriate, and immediate deportation.”

Aguero's post soon attracted Greene's attention and she suggested the GOP is using this footage to fearmonger people into voting for them with the midterm elections only 35 days away.

She wrote:

"We have not seen a caravan headed to the U.S. southern border in several years, why now? Oh yeah, there is an election coming and the GOP needs to scare you into voting because nothing else is working."

Greene has been critical of her own party over the last year—and many are inclined to agree that the GOP and the White House are using the footage to promote its immigration policy despite the ongoing and wildly unpopular immigration crackdown taking place around the country.

The GOP must be in serious trouble given how far they're reaching.
