"Reddit user LoneVentriloquistSFW asked: 'What is the most useless information that you know?'"

Make us preferred on Google

There is so much information to process in life.

We are fed everything from math to science to history and modern-day culture every second of the day.

But when will we use this stockpile of knowledge?

Maybe people should start a "useless Knowledge" TikTok.

Redditor LoneVentriloquistSFW wanted to discuss all of the 'Jeopardy' info we never need to know, so they asked:

"What is the most useless information that you know?"

Toot!

"Fish don't fart. They continuously secrete waste gasses through their skin."

Bad Breaks

"Ants can’t take fall damage because their terminal velocity isn’t fast enough to break their exoskeleton."

- Small_Homework3971

"When I was really young I used to knock ants from my balcony on the 1st floor, I saw them fall and spiral in the air and then continue walking, nobody believed me because there's no way I could see an ant from the first floor, but I freaking did and this proves it."

- jumbledsiren

"I think this also applies to squirrels."

- Tricckkyyy

Beep!!

"That most car horns play an F4 on the first space of the treble clef."

- TheGodlyTank6493

"Unless you have an awesome Oldsmobile or Caddillac with four horns, A, C, D and F that sounded like a train.

"I actually bought a set of Oldsmobile horns with the plan to replace my Nissan Leaf's feeble 'beep beep' with a 'HOOOOOOONKKKKK!'"

- ClownfishSoup

"I think the dial tone is an F# if you need a tuner and don’t have one."

- Ltimbo

On the Inside

"You have to stick your finger inside an alligator to find out its gender."

- pitpulkrew

"Totally useful. I'm looking at alligators all day wondering what their gender is, if only I had this information."

- Slipz19

ROAR!!

"The back of tigers' ears have a white spot to resemble eyes, so they scare off things that look at them from behind, sort of like a peacock."

- YesImKian

"It's to confuse the prey. No matter where the tiger looks, the prey runs away, makes noise, alerts the tiger."

Not Tonight

"Sometimes pandas are too lazy to have sex."

- Sea0wl

"They are also only fertile 3 days a year, which makes conservation programs quite hard."

- pig_unt_erdvark

"There’s even a story of a female panda (allegedly) pretending to be pregnant to get special treatment. And if a mom has two babies, they have to sneakily swap them back and forth bc otherwise the mom would abandon one. That makes sense evolutionarily at least. But surprising a mom can’t tell her babies apart."

- NarcRuffalo

Auditory Control

"Some people have voluntary control of their Tensor Tympani muscle in their inner ear. They can make a rumbling noise in their ears at will by tensing it. Handy when there is loud noise around to kinda reduce it as you walk past."

- BloodSteyn

"Another way to know it is, to pinch your nose and close your mouth and try to breathe out without opening either, but not too hard because that hurts. Like a normal breath, or half even. If you can, you should hear a pop/click, and hear air flowing through your head as you breathe normally. Making it stop is just relaxing your muscles."

- TheteanHighCommand

So Narrow

"The difference between a nook and a cranny is that a nook is a corner, and a cranny is like a narrow opening."

- The_Living_Theater

"This is great, I went aww at this fact for some reason. English is my second language, but also my favorite one, so I love hearing little facts like this... thanks, random person, hope you have a good one whether it is evening or day. :) "

- ciceros_conatus

Eyes Wide Open

"Male swallowtail butterflies have eyes on their penis so they can position themselves correctly when mating."

Genius

"You can calculate the circumference of the universe with a margin of error less than the diameter of an atom if you have 60 digits of pi. Thus, any further digits are completely useless. You're welcome to all of you who memorized 100+ digits back in school."

- jinoble

"And for practical purposes, NASA uses Pi less than 20 digits to calculate the course of their spaceships and that is enough to send it to enter Jupiter and Saturn's moon orbit or land a rover on Mars."

- drs43821

"So I suppose eventually there might be a use for the digits at some point, but it's already so big that additional digits won't be added for a long time. This is a presumption on my part, but I feel it's a pretty safe one."

- jinoble

Waste

"There are 96 bags of human waste on the moon."

- Stunning_Move7375

"Please someone make a disaster movie 'Asturdoid,' where the BM's of former astronauts/cosmonauts crash into ironic earth locations, all leading up to 'The Gagarin' which has potentially world-ending consequences. Thank you."

- Brighton2k

"The very first thing out the door during the Apollo 11 landing was a bag of trash. Armstrong later kicked it under the lander to get it out of the TV shots."

- fatnino

Cluck-Cluck

"You can hypnotize chickens by drawing a line on the dirt and making the chicken look at the line."

- Atlantic_Nikita

"The Iggy Pop song 'Lust for Life' which lyrically draws influence from a book by William S. Burroughs mentions hypnotizing chickens. I didn't know it was a real thing until now."

- HoonArt

"Born and raised on a farm. My first pet was a chick. I can assure you it works. I miss farm life. Living in a city sucks 80% of the time."

- Atlantic_Nikita

FACTS

"Fun fact: The Utahraptor wasn't discovered yet at the time of Jurassic Park's writing. Michael Crichton actually based the Velociraptor off of the Deinonychus, which was actually a much larger size. He was also aware of the discrepancy but was working on a theory that many genera should be combined."

"The Utahraptor was actually discovered while the film was in Post, which was essentially the same size and shape that was envisioned. And the lead special effect designer was quoted as saying, 'After we created it, they discovered it.'"

- zappy487

All the Things

"Where do I start? Nepal is the only country in the world whose flag isn't a rectangle. Raptors will sometimes take tortoises to the top of a cliff and drop them from midair, breaking their shell. Earth was uninhabitable for the first few hundred million years of its existence, but life emerged more or less immediately once Earth became inhabitable."

"You may have heard that the speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s (no matter how fast you're going), but that's actually precisely how much it is, we define a meter to be such that the speed of light is that number, no decimal point. Cleopatra lived between 69-30 BCE and the pyramids were built around 2780 BCE, meaning she lived closer to today than to the building of the pyramids."

- The_Ora_Charmander

Ears

"I learned about elephants, although it’s not useless in the sense I could save somebody. It is about how to determine if the elephant charge is real or fake. If its ears are fanned wide and are upward it’s a fake charge. If its ears are tucked behind it's a real charge. Whatever the case just get out of there."

Well, I am full of new and invaluable information.

I feel ready to chat at a swanky dinner party.

Who knows when one will end up on a game show.

That one "esueless" bit of fact could knab someone a million bucks.

The delivery fo the info can still be boring and feel tedious.

Let's work on that.
