The internet had a field day trolling Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner.
Both were snubbed from attending this year's Met Gala event in New York.
The annual fundraising ball to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City is a bombastic high society event attended by A-list celebrities and socialites, one of which included the Donald Trump clan.
But after years of walking the red carpet in the 80s alongside his then-wife, Ivana, Donald Trump was blacklisted from attending when his political career took off.
Back in October 2017, the event's host and Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, told James Corden during a game of "Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts" on The Late Late Show that Trump would be the one person who would no longer be welcomed back to the Met Gala.
Apparently, Trump's ostracization extended to the entire family, as Ivanka and Jared—who were formerly regular guests at the Met—were nowhere to be seen amongst the 400 luminaries in attendance at Monday's extravagant affair.
To weigh in on their notable absences, "The Lincoln Project" Twitter account threw some shade at the couple suggesting Ivanka planned to crash the ball and searched Google to look for disguises.
The tweeted video implied Ivanka was researching for her clandestine strategy and landed on images of fake eyeglasses—reminiscent of Groucho Marx—complete with a fake nose, thick mustache, and furry eyebrows.
"EXCLUSIVE: We have obtained a leaked screen-recording of @IvankaTrump preparing for tonight's #MetGala," read the caption.
Others followed in mocking Ivanka and Jared's snub from the Met.
Twitter user Jay Black suggested the pair would use code names to enter the event in their disguises.
One person said Ivanka was better off as a no-show since she might require a costume change during the night.
New York's biggest night in fashion is usually held on the first Monday in May but was delayed due to the pandemic.
This year, the Met Gala followed the end of New York Fashion Week—which began last Wednesday to kick off Fashion Month.
The red carpet was hosted by singer and actor Keke Palmer and actor, writer, and director Ilana Glazer.
Co-chairs included singer Billie Eilish, actor Timothée Chalamet, pro-tennis player Naomi Osaka, and American poet Amanda Gorman—who delivered her poem, "The Hill We Climb," at President Joe Biden's inauguration.
The theme for this year's event was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" to celebrate American motifs in a new exhibition that will open to the public in the Anna Wintour Costume Center on September 18th.
