Idaho's GOP Lieutenant Governor Drives Around With Gun And Bible To Tout 'Freedom' In Bizarre Video

As virus cases spike across the country, many states, such as Idaho, have taken measures to halt the spread by enacting social distancing restrictions.

The state's Lieutenant Governor, Janice McGeachin, believes these safety precautions are an assault on citizens' freedom.

She believes this despite the fact that the restrictions have been put in place by her own Governor, Brad Little.

To reaffirm her "commitment to freedom," McGeachin appeared in a video for Idaho Freedom TV, where she can be seen driving around with a gun and a bible, protecting people's "freedom."

In the strange appearance, McGeachin says:

"We recognize that all of us by nature are free and equal and have certain inalienable rights among which are enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing and protecting property, and pursuing happiness and protecting safety."

McGeachin, who also believes same-sex marriage to be a sin, was widely mocked on Twitter.

If McGeachin had paid a little closer attention to her Bible, she might have noticed that guns really aren't the kind of thing Jesus would like.

Driving around with a gun and a Bible doesn't seem like the most effective method of defeating the virus.

Human life is, ultimately, more important than a person's right to eat inside a restaurant.

If Lieutenant Governor McGeachin has such a huge problem with pandemic restrictions, she might want to consider talking to her boss, the Governor, instead of taking her gun and Bible out for a random drive.

NBC Apologizes After Commentators Repeatedly Misgendered Trans Winter Olympic Skier

The International Olympic Committee is still trying to figure out what their position on transgender inclusion looks like and how decisions are made regarding which events athletes compete in. In the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, Filipino boxer Hergie Bacyadan, a transgender man, had to compete in the women’s event because of their stage in their transition.

In the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics this year, per International Ski Federation regulations, Swedish moguls skier Elis Lundholm also has to compete in the women’s moguls event because he hasn't begun a masculinizing hormone replacement therapy regimen yet.
