Fox News personality Sean Hannity was called out for his hypocrisy after defending Republican Senate candidate Darline Graham's stunning debate admission that "national security is not my thing."

Last month, Darline Graham was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to temporarily fill the Senate seat previously occupied by her brother, the late Senator Lindsey Graham. President Donald Trump backed her candidacy for a full six-year term.

Graham was widely mocked after debate moderator Greta Van Susteren asked her whether Taiwan and the South China Sea represent "national security issues for the United States."

Graham replied:

“I’m just going to be honest here, I’m not that informed on national security. But I do support the military. My brother was in the Air Force for 33 years, so I will do everything I can to support the military.”
“My dad was in the Army. I’m not a polished politician up here, national security is not my thing, not my area of expertise, but I do support the military.”

You can hear what she said in the video below.

Graham's response, critics said, highlighted her lack of political experience. But Hannity came to Graham's defense, saying others had made a "big deal" about her answer.

He said:

“I’m like, I wonder how many people around the country, if I gave them a map, could pick out Taiwan? I don’t think many. And not just — the whole country, never mind South Carolina."

But Hannity had the polar opposite response just months ago when he mocked New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pausing awkwardly during the Munich Security Conference before answering a reporter's question about the future of Taiwan.

At the time, he said:

“Wow, even worse than Hillary [Clinton], though, radical squad leader AOC simply could not answer basic questions about global affairs. This is about as close to a Kamala Harris ‘word salad’ as you’ll ever get.”

You can hear what he said in the video below.

Hannity was harshly criticized.

You can always count on the GOP to change their tune when it comes to one of their own.
