Gwyneth Paltrow Just Added Carbs And Cheese Back To Her Diet—And Everyone's Thinking The Same Thing

The actor, who has been on a strict paleo diet for years, recently revealed on her podcast that she's added some carbs and cheese back into her diet—and the internet is worried it's a harbinger of things to come.

Gwyneth Paltrow is reuniting with an old flame—carbs and cheese.

After years on a strict paleo diet, the Goop founder revealed on her podcast that she’s easing up and reintroducing foods like sourdough bread, pasta, and cheese into her life.

She was refreshingly honest about her feelings about paleo, a diet she and husband Brad Falchuck adopted to manage long-term inflammation and health concerns.

“I’m a little sick of it, if I’m honest.”

Paltrow explained that she carries the APOE3 and APOE4 genes, which increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, making it important for her to reduce the chances of developing brain inflammation. Fellow Marvel star Chris Hemsworth also made headlines in 2022 for having two APOE4 copies, a rare genetic combination that affects just 2–3% of the population.

And for Paltrow, her preventative measures started with changing her diet to eliminate foods that tend to cause inflammation, including highly-processed foods that include high levels of trans fats, saturated fats and added sugars. And the paleo diet seemed like a good fit.

The paleo diet gets its name from the Paleolithic era, which occurred from around 2.5 million years ago until 10,000 BC, and seeks to replicate the diet of early humans.

Although she still sees paleo as a helpful “template”—focusing on whole, unprocessed foods—Paltrow admitted she’s ready for a little indulgence, adding:

"I'm getting back into eating some sourdough bread and some cheese. There, I said it. A little pasta. After being strict with it for so long."

Her admission sparked humorous reactions online.

Could it be a good sign?

Or might it signal something darker?

While it's unclear if Paltrow's return to carbs and cheese is a good or a bad omen, her timing is excellent—just in time for summer cookouts and cheeseburgers.

Or, perhaps, the end of the world...

No, this is not a pick-up line from your grandfather’s dusty box of love letters. Nor was it penned by Jane Austen, Shakespeare, or even a Bridgerton-era footman who slipped through a cosmic wormhole to rescue modern romance.
