Don Jr. Mocked Over Bonkers Conspiracy Theory For Why Trump Shouldn't Pick Rubio For VP

Donald Trump Jr. spouted a seriously paranoid theory for why his father shouldn't pick Senator Marco Rubio as his VP.

The list for presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump's running mate has been whittled down to a shortlist of contenders that includes Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio, and Don Jr. is none too pleased about the prospect of the Senator being his father's Vice President.

The eldest son of the former President said as much during Monday night's Triggered podcast when he fielded a question and agreed with a listener who wrote in and posited that “Rubio guarantees another impeachment."

While Don Jr. claimed he had a "good relationship" with the Florida Senator, he admitted there was some logic behind the idea that establishment Republicans—or RINOs (Republicans in name only) as Trump refers to them—would immediately move to impeach and remove his father from office in order to give them President Rubio.

Said Don Jr.:

“By the time my father’s hand moves off the Bible in the swearing in process … 12 p.m. January 20, the second it goes off, it would be, like, impeachment! And gone."
"That's how fast it would be."

He added:

“There is something about having someone from outside the establishment to sort of further protect you from that establishment."

Social media users reveled in Don Jr.'s paranoia and dragged him in the comments.

Some pointed out that his comments were a prognostication of continued criminal activity were his father to win another term.

Given Rubio's rocky relationship with Trump in the past, the likelihood of his being chosen for the ticket is unlikely.

Trump famously bullied and mocked the former GOP presidential hopeful, calling him "l'il Marco" during the 2016 primary campaign.

The other names rumored to be on Trump's shortlist as his running mate are first-term Ohio Senator and GOP rising star, Senator JD Vance, and incumbent North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, an advisor on the Trump campaign's energy policy.

For now, his pick remains a mystery although the former President did mention on Monday during Fox News' Hannity that he would "probably" name the politician "a little before" next week's Republican National Convention.

"I’d love to do it during the convention," he said during the interview, adding:

"My people say that’s a little complicated."
