Robert Irwin Jokes About 'Dangerous' Side Effect Of His Underwear Photoshoot

After making waves with his recent underwear photoshoot for Bonds, Irwin told People magazine he's had to give a "wide berth" to a certain element of his social media.

Animal rights activist and conservationist Robert Irwin discovered that the flirty DMs from fans of his sexy underwear campaign are “a dangerous place” to explore.

The son of the late Steve Irwin is all grown up, and the 21-year-old zookeeper recently modeled semi-nude for an Australian underwear company called Bonds, while wearing venomous snakes, lizards, spiders, alligators, comfy undies
 and nothing else. Crikey!

The bold advertisements are part of a launch to sell the company’s comfortable and stylish underwear in the U.S., with options for men, women, and future Crocodile Hunters.

Fully clothed, Irwin joked with People about his fans' reaction during the Steve Irwin Gala:

“Oh my gosh. The DMs are a dangerous place right now
I have been giving the DMs a wide berth.”

Held in Las Vegas on May 10th, the dinner was dedicated to Irwin's late father’s work in wildlife conservation and research. The gala is one of many events aimed at raising funds to protect and enhance animals and their habitats through global initiatives and species-specific programs, including protecting Sumatran tigers, koalas, cheetahs, and more.

Fans will recall that Robert Irwin is the youngest son of the famous Crocodile Hunter, who tragically died in 2006 after a stingray encounter in the Great Barrier Reef. When asked what his father would think of the scantily clad ad campaign, Irwin joked, “There'd probably be a few 'Crikeys' thrown around!”

Irwin also discussed how the “fun” and “flattering” campaign continued his father’s message of bringing awareness to the importance of animal conservation:

“I just try and put out a bit of positivity into the world, and I do want to reach as many people as I can."
"And interestingly enough, my whole life, I've reached people in my khakis, and I never would've thought that I would reach even more people out of my khakis, out of the uniform.”

The dinner is usually attended by both Robert and his older sister, Bindi Irwin, who unfortunately had a medical emergency after her appendix ruptured. But before the gala, Bindi gave her thoughts on her brother’s photoshoot in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

You can see his sister’s reaction below:

Robert also shared how his entire family supported him during his foray into modeling:

"My family are so supportive, I just love them so much. They're the solid foundation to everything I do, and what we're doing together."

Judging by the reactions, it looks like fans new and old also support his aspirations:
