'American Idol' Finalist Leaves Competition After Video Of Him With Someone In KKK-Style Hood Surfaces

16-year-old Caleb Kennedy has left the American Idol competition after a video of him surfaced and made the rounds on the internet.

Kennedy, who had advanced to the Final Five of Idol, announced his departure from the show after a video showed up on Twitter of him with somebody in a KKK style hood.

You can see the clip here:

Kennedy announced his departure on Instagram.

Kennedy wrote:

"There was a video that surfaced on the internet and it displayed actions that were not meant to be taken in that way."
"I was younger and did not think about the actions, but that's not an excuse. I wanna say sorry to all my fans and everyone who I have let down."

Kennedy's mother told MSN the video "was taken after Caleb had watched the movie The Strangers: Prey at Night and they were imitating those characters."

She continued:

"It had nothing to do with the Ku Klux Klan, but I know that's how it looks. Caleb doesn't have a racist bone in his body. He loves everyone and has friends of all races."

None of the characters in The Strangers: Prey At Night wore a KKK hood.

Also, Kennedy's video mysteriously includes the word "bow" with no explanation.

As a result of Kennedy's withdrawal from the competition, the next elimination on American Idol on this coming Sunday, May 16, will only be a single rather than a double elimination.

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
