The actor defended his bizarre story of biting into an animal's "warm" heart on a hunting trip, calling it an "overly-charged male rite of passage," during a tense exchange on The Louis Theroux Podcast.

After a lot of controversy, the Call Me By Your Name actor Armie Hammer is attempting to clear his name and rejoin the Hollywood crowd, but his rebrand isn't going as well as he might have hoped.

Despite his prolific start, Hammer has not been present in Hollywood since 2022 after stories surfaced about sexism, possible assault, and those infamous text messages promoting cannibalism.

After approximately a three-year break, Hammer has expressed interest in reentering Hollywood, but he wants to put all of the controversy behind him.

This week, Hammer appeared on The Louis Theroux Podcast, where he addressed the rumors of cannibalism, as well as a questionable tradition he participated in while hunting in the woods.

To start, Louis Theroux read from a released text in which Hammer admitted to "taking a bite" out of a heart.

"[The text read,] 'I've cut the heart out of a living animal before and eaten it while still warm.'"
"Would you like to contextualize that?"

Hammer clarified that it did not involve eating "the whole heart" and that it was a hunting ritual.

"You don't eat the whole heart. The definition is, you take a bite out of the heart."
"You've got all your buddies around you, they're goading you on, and it's sort of like almost an overcharged male right of passage when you go hunting for the first time."
"Everyone I know who went hunting for the first time had to do something similar."

At the end of the interview, Theroux asked if Hammer had any final remarks, and Hammer critiqued his interview style.

"I don't love the way the interview started, just to be perfectly honest."
"I'm not crazy about dredging up all of this stuff, because for me, a lot of these issues have been resolved, whether it be legally or within myself, and I feel like a lot of those waters have settled."
"I think doing things like that [asking those questions] stirs up the water again unnecessarily."

The interview also addressed text messages that had been released about Armie Hammer, including an affair, his hunting habits, rumors of cannibalism, pornography, and other questionable extracurricular activities.

Despite Hammer's interest in putting past controversies behind him, Theroux noted in the caption of the interview that Hammer also said:

"It's fun to ruffle feathers."

Some viewers were alarmed by how Hammer behaved during the interview.

Throughout the interview, Hammer frequently dodged questions and reframed them, either by saying that something was taken out of context and could not be proven, or comparing the accusation with something that didn't seem related.

It seems Hammer isn't ready to talk about the controversies, but would rather demand they be "settled" because he wants them to be. That's a strange approach for someone looking to return to Hollywood and public life.

Ben Affleck Confesses Why He And Matt Damon Added Random Gay Sex Scenes To 'Good Will Hunting' Script

Who knew the iconic line “How do you like them apples?” might be spiritually adjacent to a stack of random gay sex scenes that never made it into Good Will Hunting? At least, that’s how its writers—Boston buddies Ben Affleck and Matt Damon—have described one of their more chaotic attempts to figure out who was actually reading their script.

For anyone somehow unfamiliar with the Oscar-winning Affleck-Damon bromance: the two met as kids in Cambridge, Massachusetts—Affleck was 8, Damon was 10—and grew up a block and a half apart. They bonded over acting, moved in together after high school, and started grinding through auditions.
