Andrew Garfield Was Told He Wasn't Cast In 'Narnia' Role Because He Wasn't 'Handsome Enough'

Andrew Garfield is making huge waves with his recent debut in the Lin-Manuel Miranda directed movie musical Tick, Tick… Boom! for which Garfield recently won a Golden Globe.

He's also reviving his role as Spider-Man in one of the highest grossing movies ever, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Garfield may have plenty of success now, but he wasn't always this lucky.

Remember the 2006 The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe franchise?

Well, according to Entertainment Tonight, Garfield said producers didn't think he was "handsome enough" to snag a role in the failed Narnia series.

Garfield said:

“I remember I was so desperate. I auditioned for Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia and I thought, ‘This could be it, this could be it.'"
“And that handsome, brilliant actor Ben Barnes ended up getting the role."
"I think it was down to me and him, and I remember I was obsessed.”

Garfield was desperate for answers when he didn't get the role and begged his agent for answers:

“She eventually just broke under my incessant nagging and she was like, ‘It’s because they don’t think you’re handsome enough, Andrew'.”

Garfield added:

"Ben Barnes is a very handsome, talented man."
“So in retrospect, I’m not unhappy with the decision and I think he did a beautiful job.”

Though, fans of Garfield were there to hype him back up.

Even though Narnia won't be on Garfield's resume, his credits include John Crowley’s 2007 drama Boy A, The Other Boelyn Girl and Never Let Me Go. Those roles lead to The Social Network, Martin Scorsese’s Silence and two Spider-Man films.

It may have hurt him back then, but it sure didn't stop his success.

Jimmy Kimmel And Stephen Colbert Unload On Trump In Rare Crossover Event As Guests On Each Other's Shows

Late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert were each other's guests in a special crossover event on Tuesday and took the opportunity to call out "son of a b*tch" President Donald Trump, who has used his influence in attempts to silence them for criticizing him and his MAGA movement on the air.

Last week, ABC announced it would end its suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! just a week after Trump pushed to get host Jimmy Kimmel off the air following comments Kimmel made about the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk. ABC had had internal discussions with Disney, which saw a wave of subscriber cancellations in the wake of Kimmel's suspension.

Texas MAGA Republican Senator Rafael "Ted" Cruz raised eyebrows when he attacked Georgia QAnon/MAGA Republican Representative and conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) for being antisemitic.

MTG has promoted some antisemitic conspiracy theories in the past, like Jewish space lasers that control the weather or start wildfires, but this time people are calling Cruz out for reaching in an attempt to discredit the Georgia Republican and protect Trump from what's being concealed in FBI, Department of Justice, and court records relating to the indictment of Jeffrey Epstein on charges of sex trafficking of minors.
