'Wheel Of Fortune' Contestant's Super Cringey Guess Leaves Viewers Scratching Their Heads

'Wheel Of Fortune' Contestant's Super Cringey Guess Leaves Viewers Scratching Their Heads
Wheel of Fortune

A contestant on Thursday's Wheel of Fortune gave what many considered was the worst possible guess in the game show's recent history.

The contestant, named Matt, was in the lead with $9,900 after guessing the letter N—of which there were three on the board.

The clue for the three-word puzzle was, "people," and two of the Ns were in prominent positions.

The second word in the phrase started with the letter N and the third word ended with the same letter.

Not only did Matt guess incorrectly, but he also did not use the letter he chose when verbalizing his answer.

Matt thought the phrase was, "The Best Buttercup," instead of "The Next Generation."

There was some speculation online Matt said "Buttercup" instead of "Buttercut."

While the jury was out on that one, Twitter users agreed it was an epic fail either way.

Host Pat Sajak was heard off-camera responding to Matt's answer with:

"Uh, no. Oddly enough, no."

Despite the embarassing game play, Matt ended up walking away a winner with a large cash prize at the end of the game.
