Usher Hilariously Begs Keke Palmer To Clear The Air About Dress She Wore To His Vegas Residency

Usher; Keke Palmer
'Baby, This Is Keke Palmer'

The singer asked Palmer on her Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast to set the record straight about the controversial dress she wore to his Las Vegas residency back in 2023 that prompted her son's father to chastise her on social media.

R&B Romeo Usher appeared on the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast to clarify one thing with the host that caused drama with her ex, Darius Jackson.

It all started with that controversial dress.

Here's a refresher.

In 2023, Palmer was shamed by Jackson for joining Usher on stage during his Las Vegas residency performance in a body suit veiled by a sheer black polka-dotted dress.

They swayed close together as he sang, "There Goes My Baby."

Here's a clip from that racy stage interaction.

Jackson, who shares a baby boy with Palmer named Leodis, was unimpressed and expressed his grievance publicly on X (formerly Twitter) writing, "It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom."

After facing backlash for his judgy comment, he fired back at critics with:

"We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is."

He continued:

"This is my family & my representation."
"I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case."

His comments didn't sit well with fans at the time.

The pair have since separated, but her sheer gown from the night she made music with Usher was revisited on her podcast when the Grammy winner stopped by.

During the interview, Palmer casually mentioned how they both "caused a ruckus" in her failed relationship at the time, to which Usher casually responded with, "We did," before stopping himself when doubt set in.

"Wait, hold on. Did WE cause some ruckus in our relationships?" he asked, adding:

"Did we have anything to do with what was going on in your home?"

Usher then asked Palmer to set the record straight about the controversial outfit by jokingly asking:

“Did I send you that dress?"

"I just want to know that. I cannot be responsible for how people choose to react to my experience as an entertainer," he said, as Palmer laughed, hiding behind her cue cards.

He continued claiming innocence with:

"I am not deliberately trying to do anything that's gonna rock anybody's home."

You can watch a segment from the interview here.

Usher reflected back on the performance and noted they were "having a great time," to which Palmer agreed and commented, "It was so fun."

Fans enjoyed their rapport.

Overall, people enjoyed the interview, and the podcast episode even garnered some new fans.

When Jackson made the statements, Palmer didn't let it slide.

In an apparent response to him admonishing her, the Nope actor subtly clapped back with a video on Instagram singing Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" but switching the pronoun to "He" while she sang to her and Jackson's boy who had turned five months old.

In the caption, Palmer wrote:

"One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through! 😍"

Following the links she included to purchase shirts that say, “IM A MOTHA” and “Stevie to the bullsh*t," she continued:

"To all my mom’s out there, how did your baby change you?? Mine empowered me!"
"On such another level, my perspective changed because when my baby is good I’m GREAT! Look at that face! Gratitude galore."

Palmer went further by ending things with Jackson, as indicated by appearing in a music video with Usher for the song "Boyfriend."

She dropped the video on social media and let it speak for itself without mentioning the controversy or Jackson's name.

A source close to Jackson told People he "moved on" from the spat with Palmer and stated he was focusing on his acting career instead of remaining fixated on Usher's music video.
