Eric Swalwell Perfectly Shames Jim Jordan Over Hypocritical 'Subpoena Compliance' Demand

Eric Swalwell calls out Jim Jordan's hypocrisy for issuing subpoenas after defying them when Democrats were in control.

California Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell called out the hypocrisy of Ohio Republican Representative Jim Jordan on Thursday.

Jordan—who is now the chair of the House Judiciary Committee—issued subpoenas in connection with investigations into the Justice Department and the FBI based on Donald Trump, Christian nationalist and White nationalist complaints of being targeted.

During a meeting of the Subcommittee on Responsiveness and Accountability To Oversight, the members discussed subpoena compliance.

Swalwell told the subcommittee's Republican Chair Ben Cline of Virginia he found Jordan’s views on subpoenas “quite rich.”

You can see Representative Swalwell's remarks about Jordan’s hypocrisy here:

Representative Swalwell said:

“I think it's quite rich that we are talking about subpoena compliance under a chairman of the full [Judiciary] committee who was absolutely out of subpoena compliance in the last Congress.”

A letter dated May 31 sent to Jordan asked him to comply with the Jan. 6 committee’s subpoena. However Jordan refused to comply or cooperate.

Swalwell shared the letter on screens in the hearing room.

Swalwell continued:

“So we're gonna call witnesses in here today and claim that they did not comply with subpoenas or requests, and that request is so rich because it's coming from a chairman who himself did not comply with the January six committee's request.”
“You were a witness to a crime. You were a witness to the greatest crime ever committed with the most criminals ever indicted in America."

The California Democrat asked rhetorically:

"Will you help your country? Will you comply with that subpoena?”
Swalwell then shared Jordan’s response to his own congressional subpoenas:

“No compliance. Crickets, absolute defiance of the subpoena.”

People concurred with Swalwell's call out of Jordan’s hypocrisy and unwillingness to support United States' democracy.

Jordan is taking heat from both sides.

Conservative commentators have accused Jordan of being ineffective, weak and not taking things far enough in furthering the conservative agenda.
