What does it take to be a hero?
Many go their entire lives without ever finding out.
Dayvon Johnson, an 11-year-old sixth grader from Muskogee, Oklahoma got to find out twice in one day.
First he saved a choking classmate and then—as if one act of heroism wasn't enough—he helped an elderly woman in a burning building.
The acts of this young man have many people calling him a hero.

Last Thursday, December 16, one of Dayvon’s classmates was trying to open a water bottle with their mouth. However, the cap ended up slipping down their throat.
Dayvon rushed over to help the student and provide first aid to dislodge the obstruction.
Principal Latricia Dawkins told the local news:
“Davyon immediately sprinted over and did the Heimlich maneuver. From the account of the witnesses, when he did it the bottle cap popped out.”
Dayvon has expressed interest in becoming an EMT, like his uncle. The people around him know that's what he wants to do.
Dawkins said:
“He has always indicated that he wants to be an EMT. So he got to put that desire into action and immediately saved that young man.”
The boy’s second save of the day came later while walking home from school. An elderly woman was walking out of her house, the back side of which was on fire.
Dayvon told News on 6:
“I thought ‘oh, she's not moving fast enough.’ So I ran across the street and helped her to her truck.”
Dayvon helped her walk from her porch to her truck to leave the burning building, which eventually saw the fire reach its front.
He was recognized by the Muskogee Police Department, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office and the school board for his good deeds.
