Michael Cohen Pleaded Guilty in Court As Part of His Plea Deal With Robert Mueller, and Donald Trump Just Responded

Michael Cohen Pleaded Guilty in Court As Part of His Plea Deal With Robert Mueller, and Donald Trump Just Responded
ABC News

Riiight.

After his former attorney and devoted "fixer" Michael Cohen pleaded guilty for lying to Congress regarding efforts to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, President Donald Trump snapped back at his former ally.

The President claimed that Michael Cohen was lying about being guilty of lying in order to receive a reduced sentence...for lying.

Trump said:

"He's a weak person and by being weak, unlike other people that you watch, uh, he's a weak person and what he's trying to do is get a reduced sentence, so he's lying about a project that everybody knew about, I mean we were very open with it."

Watch the stunning video below.

Cohen pleaded guilty for lying to the FBI and paying hush money to two different women at the height of the 2016 presidential campaign in an effort to conceal their past affairs with then-candidate Trump. However, Cohen's latest admission is brand new and comes as a surprise to many.

The President — who recently submitted written testimony to Special Counsel Robert Mueller regarding his campaign's possible conspiracy with Russia — has increased his attacks on the entire investigation over the last couple of days.

These tweets and the statements from this morning lead many to believe that the walls are closing in on the President.

Cohen's guilty plea today and Trump's response is the most recent development in Mueller's investigation after a previously quiet period ahead of the 2018 midterms.

In addition to chastising Cohen's so-called weakness, the President said he only hired Cohen — who worked for him for over a decade — as his personal attorney because Cohen had done him a favor at one point.

Twitter thought that was rich.

Some claim that Trump's statements on the White House lawn this morning are themselves an inadvertent admission of guilt.

It wasn't long until the President's current attorney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani joined the fray, echoing the sentiments of his client:

"Michael Cohen is a liar. It's no surprise that Cohen lied to Congress. He's a proven liar who is doing everything he can to get out of a long-term prison sentence."

It went about as well as you'd expect.

While indictments, plea deals, and other developments continue to trickle in, the extent of the Trump campaign's direct involvement — if any — has yet to be confirmed. But the fear and desperation in Trump and his allies' responses have been telling.

Nancy Mace Ripped After Using Transgender Slur To Refer To Charlie Kirk Killer

South Carolina Republican Representative Nancy Mace was fiercely criticized following the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk when she used a slur to reference the rumored gender identity of the killer, who has yet to be identified by authorities.

Since Kirk's killing on Wednesday, Mace has erroneously claimed that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death—and now she's taken the opportunity to once again attack transgender people, saying with no evidence whatsoever that "the shooter was a tr*nny, or pro-tr*nny."

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.
