People Share Their Mom's Classic Catchphrase, And We're Taking Notes

Oh mom, at it again. We grew up hearing these things on a daily basis. And only once or twice did we want to rip our own skins off!

u/franc_the_bikesexual asked:

What is your mom's catch phrase?

Here were some of the snappy answers.

65 MPH

Giphy

English is my mom's second language, so instead of saying "It's my way or the highway" my mom says "My way is the highway."

This Is Not A Democracy

Flouncing in from whatever excursion she was just on

"Any calls from my fan club?"

My brother and I are fist fighting to the death and tattling on one another

"Hit him back" (while casually flipping the page in her tabloid trash mag)

Something is unfair, children tell her they think so

"Thanks for sharing your opinion. I don't care."

F*cking love my mom.

"Are you drinking enough water?"

Headache? Drink more water. Upset stomach? Drink water. Bad grades? You need more water. Bone protruding from your knee? Drink some water, you'll be fine.

Multiple Choice

She runs through each of the kids' names before she gets to the one she actually wants to call.

"Ti-Jaa- Sarah!"

Lone_Ponderer

Recourse

"Finesse, not force"

I have to admit over the years it's helped me step back and take a breath before I end up breaking something to sh*t in frustration.

"Big boy at night, big boy in the morning"

Would be said when I was trying to skip church by sleeping in after I had been out prowling late the night before.

Nugs

Here are a few nuggets:

"You gotta plan your work and work your plan!" - she watches too much Dr Phil I think

"I'll slap them into next Tuesday!" - anytime someone gives her flack

"I had to give up smoking and drinking for four months while pregnant with you!" She's never smoked and doesn't really drink :)

And finally, for nostalgia... Everytime she would take me out shopping when I was young, we'd get back in the car to drive home and she'd look at me and exclaim, "We did good, bubby!"

Work For What You Deserve

She has so many, and I dunno why this is the one that comes up first in my mind, but she always says "if you can't open it, you don't deserve it." This phrase (which sounds a bit more whimsical in the original Serbian) goes for everything from bags of chips to those plastic packages school supplies come in. She shows no mercy when something's really hard to unwrap or pry apart.

I have subsequently gotten very good at opening hard-to-open things, and am now the go-to pickle jar guy.

Strange Correlation

Giphy

When something bad happens to me, she'll always try to correlate it to something unrelated.

e.g "You're sick? Probably because you spend so much time on your phone."

e.g "You scored badly for your tests? That's god showing you that you haven't been faithful to your parents."

I could go on but you get the drift.

Beaten By The Search

When looking for something mom told us to find, and we either legitimately couldn't find it, or we were being lazy: "If I find it, I'm going to beat you with it."

We had a good childhood, though.

Former Reality Star Fired From New Show After Going On Racist Tirade About Bad Bunny's Halftime Show

Real Housewives OG Jill Zarin may need to add “fired again” to her Bravo résumé after production axed her from the upcoming E! reality docuseries The Golden Life, which stars fellow RHONY originals Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, and Sonja Morgan.

Zarin appeared on The Real Housewives of New York from 2008 to 2011, quickly branding herself the group’s truth-teller, a role that often blurred into pot-stirrer, grudge-holder, and reunion-stage detonator.

Trump Dragged After Getting Yet Another Meaningless Award To Placate His Fragile Ego

Yet another group has taken advantage of one of the thinnest-skinned individual's fragile ego to manipulate the current President of the United States.

Joining politicians, foreign nations, foreign billionaires, corporations, and international organizations, the coal industry created a new shiny trinket for MAGA Republican President Donald Trump. On Wednesday, they awarded Trump the completely-not-made-up-just-to-appease-the-POTUS "Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal" award.

Zelenksyy Slams Olympics For Disqualifying Ukrainian Athlete Over Helmet Honoring Athletes Killed In War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke out after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) disqualified Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych for insisting on wearing a helmet painted with the faces of Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia since its 2022 invasion.

Yesterday, the IOC announced that Heraskevych would be barred from competing in that day’s skeleton events in Cortina, citing his refusal to abide by the IOC’s "guidelines on athlete expression." IOC President Kirsty Coventry personally weighed in on the ruling to sideline Heraskevych, saying she "felt it was really important to come and talk to him face-to-face."

RFK Jr. Leaves Internet Speechless With Bonkers Reason Why He's 'Not Scared Of A Germ'

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had people raising their eyebrows after he told podcaster Theo Von he is "not scared of a germ" because he "used to snort cocaine off toilet seats."

Kennedy, who lacks medical or scientific training, has argued that drug companies and regulatory agencies harm Americans’ health. He has even proposed that certain vaccines should be removed from the market and is well-known for sharing conspiracy theories about vaccines, particularly those for measles and COVID-19.

Fans Horrified After Margot Robbie Reveals Weight-Shaming 'Gift' She Once Got From Male Costar

Margot Robbie is reflecting on a moment from early in her career that still stings.

The Australian actor and producer appeared on Complex’s GOAT Talk series on February 9, where she sat down with Charli XCX to discuss her career, romance films, and the worst gift she has ever received. What followed was a candid story about a male costar who handed her something that felt less like a present and more like a pointed message.
