Even before her election to the House of Representatives, far-right Congresswoman and prominent conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia wasn't at all shy in calling for violence against people who would become her colleagues.

Soon after Greene was sworn in, the House voted to strip her of committee assignments, citing her deranged conspiracy theories and her expression of support for violence against lawmakers like Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.

Sadly, that hasn't stopped Greene from further embracing conspiracy theories and violence. She's openly suggested shooting volunteers who go door-to-door with information about the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines. She's accosted her colleagues on the House floor. She's repeatedly defended the deadly failed insurrection brought on by former President Donald Trump's election lies—lies she gleefully repeated.

Her defense of the insurrection and her escalation of violent rhetoric reached a crescendo this week when she cited the Declaration of Independence as a justification for the riot.

Watch below.

In comments to white nationalist former Trump official Steve Bannon, Greene said:

"January 6 was just a riot at the Capitol, and if you think about what our Declaration of Independence says, it says to overthrow tyrants, so there's a clear difference between January 6 and the Marxist Communist revolution the Antifa BLM Democrat ground troops waged on the American people in 2020."

The "Marxist Communist revolution" Greene referred to was the historic uprising against racist police brutality in the United States last summer. She's correct that there is a "clear difference" between these and the Capitol riot on January 6.

Unlike the Capitol riot, the anti-racism protests were overwhelmingly peaceful. What's more, the Capitol Riot directly threatened the 200+ year old American tradition of peacefully transferring power. The rioters came within moments of accessing elected officials whose execution they were openly supporting and the very electoral votes Congress was certifying that day. While some of last summer's protests did turn violent, none of them came anywhere near that close to subverting the will of the people and extinguishing American democracy.

In the months since the riot, Republican lawmakers have routinely dismissed the carnage at the Capitol that day, likening it to a "normal tourist visit" and absurdly claiming it was nonviolent.

But Greene's comments said the quiet part out loud: it was a violent effort to overthrow the government.

Some said Greene's comments could amount to evidence in the ongoing investigation of the riot.

Like all House members, Greene is up for reelection in 2022.
