On March 24, 2018, at the Washington D.C. March For Our Lives, Sam Fuentes, a survivor of the shooting in Parkland, Florida, took the stage to deliver a speech calling on lawmakers to enact stricter gun laws in the United States. Half way through her remarks, however, Fuentes paused and threw up. Unfazed, she told the crowd:
I just threw up on International Television, and it feels great!She then continued her speech as Twitter blew up in support of her passion and poise even under such difficult circumstances. The moment even caught the online attention of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who tweeted a touching message to Fuentes!

According to one report, approximately 3.3 billion people worldwide—43 % of the population—are multilingual, meaning they speak at least two languages. According to the last Census, 21.6% of people in the United States speak more than one language, while in the United Kingdom, the number is 36%.
More multilingual people speak English as a second language than English speakers who have learned another language besides English. Worldwide, people who learned English as a first language rate among the lowest in multilingual rates.
