'Great British Baking Show' Host Applauded For How She Handled Hilarious Awkward Misunderstanding With Northern Irish Contestant

Whether viewers are watching The Great British Baking Show in the United States or The Great British Bake Off in the United Kingdom, all can agree that it's an incredibly wholesome show, full of talent and laughter.

A hilarious misunderstanding that could have gone horribly wrong is another great reason viewers love the show.

While circling through the contestants, asking them the familiar question of what it would mean to them if they were to win or what they would want to do if they won, host Alison Hammond approached a contestant named Mark Lutton, who's from Northern Ireland.

Hammond put a fun spin on the question, asking:

"So if you was treated like a king for the day, what would you want me to do for you?"

Mark attempted to tell Hammond that he would like for her to bake for him.

But what she heard, because of his accent, was:

"Umm, beg for me, probably."

Hammond stopped for a moment, clearly thinking, before asking:

"You'd want me to do what?"

The pair had a hilarious back-and-forth of trying to communicate "bake" and not "beg" before Hammond caught on and folded forward over herself from laughing so hard, while Mark laughed and looked visibly embarrassed.

Hammond said:

"It's your accent. It's a lovely accent."

Mark agreed:

"It's my accent. And it's the word 'bake,' which is weird for a show like this, that I can't even say it properly, isn't it?"

Hammond stopped immediately and reassured him:

"You do say it properly!"

It would be so easy to joke about the situation and then move on, but she took a moment to tell him he was doing everything right and had nothing to be embarrassed about.
