Gal Gadot Just Explained The Badass Reason Wonder Woman Ditched Her Sword And Shield For The Sequel

The new trailer for the Wonder Woman sequel set for a June 2020 release just dropped.

And while fans were excited seeing Gal Gadot reprising her role in Wonder Woman 1984, fans noticed something different about the DC Comics heroine.

Take a look at the trailer, below.

The Amazonian princess seemed to be missing her signature sword and shield in the trailer, and it turns out she will be without her weapon throughout the entire movie.

After appearing in Wonder Woman, Justice League and Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. Studio made the decision to remove the heroine's sword and shield for her fourth appearance on the silver screen.

Gadot explained why at a recent press event.

"Wonder Woman does not carry a weapon. We had an intention to let go of the sword, because there's something very aggressive with a sword."

So wouldn't that diminish her fighting skills in combat? If you believe that to be true, well then you underestimate her raw strength.

Gadot continued.

"If you have a sword, it means you need to use it. So we wanted to give that up. And we didn't feel that the shield was necessary either."

It all boils down to this.

"She's a goddess, she can fight, she's super strong, and she has the skills."
"So no, she has the gauntlets. She has the lasso. She has her tiara and that's about it."

The Amazonian princess has spoken.

And fans are totally on board with the decision.

Some fans disagreed with the choice.

But their opinion seemed to undermine the potential strengths inherent among women who don't rely on tools and weapons.

Comic aficionados also noted the absence of the sword was pertinent to the plot.

Patty Jenkins returns to helm WW 1984. Joining the cast is Kristin Wiig as Cheetah and Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord.

Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor – who mysteriously reappears after his alleged demise back in World War 1.

Is there a Back to the Future mashup with the 80s theme here?

Find out as Wonder Woman ditches the dagger and hits the mall—for what looks to be a major smack-down in a food court—to save the day in 1984.

We're like, totally here for it.

Marco Rubio Hit With Instant Video Factcheck After Claiming To Congress That He's 'Never Seen' Trump 'Fall Asleep'

California Democratic Representative Ted Lieu caught Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a blatant lie and presented video evidence after Rubio testified to Congress that he'd "never seen" President Donald Trump "fall asleep" during a Cabinet meeting.

Trump has repeatedly had to cover for always falling asleep during meetings and events, and regularly rages against anyone who points out obvious signs of age-related decline. Last month, a White House account claimed he was simply "blinking" after Trump appeared to fall asleep during an event on maternal health in the Oval Office.
