Republican Rep. Tom Emmer was speaking at a National Republican Congressional Committee dinner on Tuesday when he nearly turned President Trump's name into a profane insult.

Minnesota Republican Representative Tom Emmer was widely mocked after he nearly called President Donald Trump "President c*nt" before catching himself while speaking at a National Republican Congressional Committee dinner on Tuesday.

Emmer, the House Majority Whip, made the blunder in front of GOP donors who shelled out as much as $300,000 to attend the dinner. According to House Republicans Campaign Chair Richard Hudson, the committee pulled in $35.2 million leading up to the event.

Emmer stormed onto the stage with high energy, kicking things off with a loud, attention-grabbing greeting. When the crowd didn’t respond the way he hoped, he pushed harder. “No!” he shouted, insisting on a redo. But this time, he fumbled the line—an early stumble that seemed to hint at what was to come.

Then he said:

“President cun—President Donald Trump is counting on us.”

You can hear what he said in the video below.

That Freudian slip didn't escape anyone.

Emmer has previously carried water for Trump despite a rocky relationship with him in the past—so maybe that Freudian slip suggests he still feels sore about their prior interactions.

Earlier this year, Emmer was mocked online after he had only glowing things to say about Trump despite Trump's negative assessment of him from 2023.

That year, the former president took to Truth Social to deride Emmer as “totally out-of-touch with Republican Voters” and a “Globalist RINO," even getting on the phone with members of Congress to stress he would not support Emmer's bid for the House speakership.

Trump later messaged one person close to him, according to Politico, with the words, “He’s done. It’s over. I killed him," mere minutes before Emmer officially dropped out of the race.

Despite this, Emmer claimed that "the president has been wonderful to me, and wonderful to my wife, has done everything that he could to campaign in Minnesota."

There used to be laws in place for someone's likeness being used without their consent, and most certainly if their likeness was being used in an exploitative way for profit.
