Pompeo addressed her departure from the long-running ABC medical drama after 19 seasons.

Since 2005 (yes 2005!) Ellen Pompeo has graced our televisions as Meredith Grey on the long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy.

However, it seems all good things must come to an end, as Pompeo recently shared on Instagram that she will be departing from the show after 19 seasons.

In her post yesterday, she shared:

"I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith GREY and the show for 19 seasons!"
"Through it all...none of it...would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You all are RIDERS and you all have made the ride so fun and ICONIC!!"
"I love you madly and appreciate you right back. This isn't your first time on the rollercoaster... you know the show must go on and I'll definitely be back to visit."
"With a lot of love and immense gratitude XoE."

Fans (and even Grey's coworkers) of Pompeo shared their love for the actor, and congratulated her on all her success with the show.

Others, however, don't know how they'll go on without Meredith.

And many are coming to terms with the fact that the moment they've been dreading the last 19 seasons is actually happening.

In the midseason finale on November 10, Pompeo's character Meredith revealed that she would be leaving Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to work for the Catherine Fox Foundation researching a cure for Alzheimer's.

We wish her all the best on her future endeavors!

In the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, Filipino boxer Hergie Bacyadan, a transgender man, had to compete in the women’s event because of their stage in their transition.

In the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics this year, per International Ski Federation regulations, Swedish moguls skier Elis Lundholm also has to compete in the women’s moguls event because he hasn't begun a masculinizing hormone replacement therapy regimen yet.
