Photo Of 'Dinner' Served At Critics Choice Awards Goes Viral—And People Aren't Impressed

Reporter Kyle Buchanan shared what attendees of the Critics Choice Awards were served for dinner on Sunday, and it's pretty lackluster.

The Critics Choice Awards is a prestigious event that creates a lot of buzz for celebrities of all entertainment industries each year.

But one thing they can't seem to get right? Their serving sizes.

Abbott Elementary actress Janelle James poked fun at the sparse food offerings during her acceptance speech for "Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series," launching the conversation.

James quipped:

"The best thing about being nominated four times is I finally realized they're never gonna feed us at this thing."
"It's gonna be grapes and ice cream every year, but this makes up for it!"

Reporter Kyle Buchanan, who was also present at the show, drove the point home and confirmed for viewers that Janelle James was not kidding about the serving sizes.

Posting a photo of a dinner plate, Buchanan tweeted:

"Hello from the Critics Choice Awards and our dinner, this snack plate."

Viewers were alarmed that this was what was offered to the Critics Choice Awards guests.

Buchanan's photo was also shared on the "Fauxmoi" subReddit, but Redditors shared an alternative perspective, pointing out that many people would be grateful to afford this.

"Right?! It may not be what celebrities are used to, but I wouldn't bat an eyelid at this." - yourangleoryuordevil

"One of my friends brought charcuterie stuff to NYE and made me keep the leftovers (still in the packages in the fridge). I’m psyched for adult lunchables for breakfast for the next few days."

"It should take the edge off of having to go back to work and is a big upgrade from my normal oatmeal or scrambled eggs." - roygbivasaur

"Honestly? H**l yeah. This is the perfect, 'I’m hungry, but we’re supposed to be paying attention, lemme grab a bite really quick,' plate." - roastbeefbee

"Basically living on ramen right now and not much else, fresh produce and specialty cheeses look like heaven."

"Maybe check your privilege a little bit if this plate, when you have money to buy more food after the event's over, is ruffling your feathers." - TheBookishAndTheBard

What's funny is that this is not even the first Critics Choice Awards show where this has come up. Every year, some kind of comment will be made about the scant offerings, but there have been notable moments in previous years, like two years ago when Oprah Winfrey commented on being served "pizza in a bag."

For the amount of money that's made in the film industry alone each year, it seems like they could do a little more than some "starving artist" style charcuterie boards.
