'Jeopardy!' Contestants Tried To Come Up With McGruff The Crime Dog's Name During Final Jeopardy—And They Failed Laughably Hard

Even people smart enough to get on Jeopardy! sometimes have brain farts.

On last night's episode of the classic trivia show, the final Jeopardy! answer was supposed to be "McGruff The Crime Dog."

Unfortunately, none of the contestants were able to recall the classic character.

One of them got close, however, and ventured a guess in which he hilariously mangled McGruff's name.

Twitter couldn't contain themselves.

There's no one fighting crime harder than Ruff McGruffin!

It seems the contestants on last night's episode had quite a bit of trouble.

But out of all those moments, Ruff McGruffin will surely be the one that lives forever.

Countless people were ready to enlist Ruff McGruffin into service.

Aren't these people supposed to be the smartest around?

Names can be hard.

Fortunately, the man who created "Ruff McGruffin" ended up winning the game anyway, and so will get a chance to return and redeem himself on the next episode.

You can pay tribute to McGruff with this shirt available here.
