Actor Johnny Depp greeted fans over the weekend with a newly clean-shaven look and it's left him almost unrecognizable.

Depp was in Port Chester, New York Saturday to share the stage at the city's Capitol Theatre with his friend, musician Jeff Beck.

But while chatting with fans and signing autographs outside, it was definitely not the music that was on anyone's mind. Depp's signature facial hair—which he's worn for decades—was completely gone.

With the addition of a hat and sunglasses he looked like someone else entirely.

With the exception of a bizarre appearance at the MTV VMAs in August and the revelation he is now dating one of his attorneys from the UK trial in 2020, Depp has been mostly staying out of the press since the end of his controversial defamation trial with his former wife actor Amber Heard.

But it seems he might be staging a comeback.

He and Beck released an album together in July, and Depp joined Beck on a few dates of his UK tour while his trial was still wrapping up.

Depp helped kick off the US leg of Beck's tour last month in Austin, Texas, and the Port Chester gig was the first of a string of dates in New York this month. Perhaps Depp decided a new look was in order for his new job?

Whatever the reason, the transformation definitely caught the eyes of the internet, leaving many people on social media shocked, a little creeped out and full of roasts.

Fans may not be so hot for Depp's new clean-shaven look, but they're definitely on board for his and Beck's tour. Most dates are nearly sold out and resold tickets are going for as much as $746 according to Page Six.

Depp just might need that money--Heard plans to appeal the verdict in their previous defamation in trial, which went mostly Depp's way.
