Airbnb Host's Bizarre Warning Note On Bed For Guests Sparks Heated Debate

A Reddit user shared a photo of a note at their Airbnb in Istanbul, Turkey, warning guests that the bed is only for sleeping—and it sparked a debate about etiquette and what can be reasonably expected from guests at a rental property.

When traveling, many have come to prefer renting a home or apartment through Airbnb over staying in a hotel.

In addition to prices lower than or comparable to hotel rooms, they also allow all the conveniences of home, such as laundry machines and a kitchen, that you likely wouldn't have staying in most hotels. However, staying at Airbnb's does come with a set of rules, established by the host renting out the property.

Most of the time, these rules are nothing to worry about, such as keeping down the noise level after a certain hour or stripping your beds at the end of your stay.

However, a couple on a recent trip to Istanbul were left with a rule by their Airbnb host that left them equally amused and confused.

Redditor @Responsible-Lack-285 shared that upon arrival at their accommodations in Istanbul, they were surprised to see a sign posted at the foot of their bed with some unusually strict instructions:

@Responsible-Lack-28 shared a photo of a modestly made double bed, with a sign taped at the foot saying "use only to sleep/no other activities".

Generally speaking, beds are used for very little other than sleeping. But couples tend to find other uses for beds, particularly when on honeymoons or romantic getaways.

Indeed, it seemed that @Responsible-Lack-28 was intending to use the bed for that alternative purpose while in Istanbul, as indicated by a comment he left on the picture:

"Came here with my wife."
"Oh well."

While it's unclear if that's specifically what this particular Airbnb host was aiming to prevent from happening, seeing as there aren't many other alternative uses for beds, it's hard to imagine they meant otherwise.

However, comments the post had a field day imagining the many things they could do in that bed, other than sleep:

"Me laying in the bed awake… got em."- dusty_bag
"What about eating and maybe making a little fort?"- PopularBroccoli
"Don't even f*cking THINK ABOUT reading a book in bed." For real tho you definitely gotta bang in the no bang bed."-I_DRINK_GENOCIDE_C*M
"No bed rotting in that Airbnb."- WheredoesithurtRA
"I can't no do my taxes there."- SnooHesitations5198
"No breakfast in bed??!? "- RainbowGames

While some pointed out how, one way or another, it was unlikely everyone was going to completely follow the rules of that sign:

"This sign can’t tell me what to do, because I can’t read."- Flat-Structure-7472
"Well, I wasn’t planning on f*cking, but now I definitely am."- NovelLandscape7862
"They want you to f*ck on the kitchen counter like normal people."- Previous_Emu5269
"Is there one on the kitchen table, couch, or other suitable locations? If not...well, there's your opportunity."- Ecomaj

While some wondered if these rules should make guests at this Airbnb think twice about staying there:

"I feel like this means they aren’t planning to wash the sheets."- bluetortuga
"You just know that a previous renter annihilated that bed with c*m for a sign like that to exist."- FURERABA
"I would be to paranoid of hidden cameras in airbnbs."- Darkdays5678

Others let it be known that it's rules like this that led them to choose hotels over Airbnbs:

"I’ll give a hotel my money over an Airbnb any day of my life."- ride-alone-midnight
"I just don’t understand why people still use Airbnb’s with all the crazy and ridiculous fees. Just get a hotel."- John271095

@Responsible-Lack-28 later returned to share that the rule regarding the bed wasn't the only rule established by their host.

Another picture displayed the remote to the television set, with a rule labeled at the bottom:

At the bottom of the remote, a label could be found saying "Use only to turn the TV on/off".

It's a bit more difficult to imagine as many obvious alternative uses for a TV remote control as there are for a bed.

One can only hope that the Airbnb host wasn't trying to prevent his guests from using the remote for the same things he didn't want their bed to be used for.

Then too, if they posted these photos on any reviews they may have written of the property, one can only wonder how much more business this Airbnb host will be getting...

Stephen Colbert Rips CBS For Banning Interview With Texas Democrat Due To FCC Threat

Late-night host Stephen Colbert criticized CBS for attempting to ban him from interviewing Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, and from even mentioning the interview on air, due to threats from Brendan Carr, the chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Talarico, who represents Texas in the state House, has previously made headlines for calling out Texas Republicans for "trying to force public schools" to display the Ten Commandments and has generated significant buzz as a forceful voice for Democrats in a state largely in the hands of the GOP.

There's nothing quite like the grip American Girl dolls had on Millennials during the mid-1990s and early 2000s.

Created in 1986 by the Pleasant Company, American Girl dolls were meant to model positive core values with dolls that resembled young women from various time periods across American history and different favorite hobbies, like horseback riding and cheerleading.

'Wall Street Journal' Ripped After Saying Millennials And Gen Zers Are 'Splurging' On 'Rotisserie Chickens' Instead Of Buying Homes

It's sadly all too common for older generations to look down on millennials and criticize their constant complaining about how "hard" life is and how they can't afford to be homeowners.

That criticism almost always ignores factors like the rising cost of housing, increasingly low salaries, and a continuous housing shortage.

Trump Roasted After Making Bonkers Comparison Between Gas Prices In Iowa And California

President Donald Trump was widely mocked for making a nonsensical comparison between gas prices in Iowa versus California during a ceremony at the White House in which he was given an award for being the "undisputed champion of beautiful clean coal."

Trump's recognition reportedly came from the Washington Coal Club, a pro-coal advocacy organization with financial links to the sector. The award was presented by James Grech, chief executive of Peabody Energy, the nation’s largest coal producer. The bronze trophy depicts a miner equipped with a headlamp and pickaxe.
