If Senate races were won on the basis of who's the best at trolling, the race for outgoing Republican Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey's seat would be an unqualified slam dunk for Democratic candidate John Fetterman.

His Republican opponent, TV personality Mehmet Oz, just keeps handing Fetterman absurd gaffes and shocking revelations to turn into hilarious political roasts.

And Fetterman never stops rising to the occasion.

Case in point, Oz's latest scandal, in which it was recently revealed he tortured and killed more than 300 dogs as well as dozens of pigs in medical experiments found to be in violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

Within hours of the story breaking, Fetterman turned the scandal into yet another perfect trolling ad, as seen below.

The ad is almost shocking in its simplicity.

Over a clip of Oz taking the stage at a recent campaign rally, Fetterman simply replaced Oz's usual walk-on music to Sarah McLachlan's "Angel."

Most people will instantly recognize the tune as the soppy, depressing dirge that underscores all those PSAs about abused and neglected dogs McLachlan does for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

You know, the ones that have had us all inconsolably crying into our egg nog every holiday season for a good decade and a half?

Fetterman kept the trolling going, too.

The scandal centers on a review of experiments Oz conducted at the Columbia University Institute of Comparative Medicine between 1989 and 2010 after a whistleblower testified about truly astonishing acts of animal cruelty in Oz's work.

The experiments included injecting expired drugs into the hearts of puppies and keeping animals profoundly sickened and injured by Oz's experiments alive for as long as a full month for multiple tests.

These procedures are not just shockingly inhumane, they're potentially illegal.

The Animal Welfare Act forbids multiple experiments on the same animal and requires anesthesia, pain relievers and euthanasia to be used on animals injured in experiments.

Oz's experiments resulted in the deaths of at least 329 dogs, 31 pigs and 661 rabbits and rodents.

Oz has yet to comment on the scandal, but Fetterman's ad pretty much sums the whole thing up.

On Twitter, people were definitely Team Animal over Team Oz.

Fetterman currently enjoys a nearly six-point lead over Oz in the polls.

But that's a significantly smaller lead than he held previously as the race continues to steadily tighten despite Fetterman's flawless meme game and Oz's constant scandals.
