While people grapple with how to handle family members and friends who voted against their basic human rights, the people in question are dealing with the fallout from their choices.
MAGA Republican President Donald Trump and the Republican Party's embrace of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 made clear the rights of women; ethnic, racial and religious minorities; the disabled; immigrants; and the LGBTQ+ community were at risk.
But ~77 million people chose to vote for Trump anyway and to put the GOP in control of Congress. And ~89 million Americans—36% of eligible voters—didn't bother to vote at all.
All the worst parts of Project 2025 are right on track, Trump's tariffs have effectively destroyed the economy, the Trump administration ignores the U.S. Constitution and the courts, and it appears Trump is itching for a war with anyone to counter his earned nickname, TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out), and to distract from his obvious cognitive decline.
Now the MAGA minions are having a moment.
Some are wondering if they did the wrong thing because they're now personally impacted by Trump's tariffs or abductions by the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Others are feeling sorry for themselves because their friends or family have cut them off over their embrace of an openly bigoted regime with authoritarian aspirations.
People like Shannon Hill (@ShannonMFHill) who lamented on X about her son cutting off contact over her Trump worship—something prominently displayed on her X profile.
In a now viral post, Hill wrote on X:
"Today my oldest son turns 36. I sent him a gift, left him a voicemail and texted him. But I won’t be hearing back from him - not even an acknowledgment that he received his present. Why? Because he hasn’t spoken to my husband or I in seven months because we voted for Trump."
"I miss him and hope that someday he will come around and realize the damage he is doing to our family by acting this way. My breaking heart is a continual reminder."
"I know many of you have similar stories and I pray that your family members come around as well. I’m not asking him to change his politics, but you can’t let it come between family."

The post got 10 million views, over 5,000 reposts, and 15,000 replies.
After getting feedback on why her son has cut her off, Hill whined:
"All of the liberals posting hate filled responses only prove the point. Sad to see."

Hill wasn't without sympathy, as many of her fellow MAGA minions had also been cut off by friends and family.
Like Hill, they took no responsibility for their estrangement.
In an unintentional self-own, many MAGA blamed "an education" for her son's differing values...
...but Hill countered it was the United States Marine Corps, not college, that taught her son compassion and empathy.
Then Hill called her son—a USMC combat veteran—a stupid freeloader.

Many people were brutally honest in their responses and reposts of her lament.

Some still had sympathy for parents who can't grasp why their children are disgusted by their choices.

But Hill's motive for her post appears to have nothing to do with reconciliation with her son.
Her "poor me" post got her the MAGA attention she desperately craves, jumping her follower count to over 30,000, an accomplishment she later celebrated in a post on X.
It seems her son made the right choice.
