Upon learning she won, Emma said:

"So amazing. I started crying as soon as they called out my name."

Her father, Brad Wright, was bursting with pride for his daughter.

He said:

"We had no idea, it's something that you prepare for. Just getting dressed, getting all the things done and we are so thankful to be a part of East Forsyth family and so excited for Emma and the opportunity they gave her tonight."

The newest homecoming queen of East Forsyth High School is a varsity cheerleader and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Her post-high school plans include attending Western Carolina University. She would eventually like to open up a bakery and ice cream shop.

Principal Hall spoke about the support Emma received from the student body:

"It's what we try to push here. Everybody is included, everybody's voice matters regardless of your background, your life before you got here."

He continued:

"Once you're here, you're family. And we appreciate the contributions of all of our students and tonight was a perfect example."

Patel insisted the reports were an attempt to smear the “rock-solid conservative” Wilkins, whom he referred to as "a patriot." However, as a community note below his post on X also pointed out, the crux of the scandal is his use of government funds rather than his own to attend Wilkins' performances.
